Its ok if you are male. the style today is for woman / girls to have long hair and it just doesn't work as well as other head caps

Hi Stephen, thank you for your review. The R5 was designed as a unisex product and the feedback we have received is that it works well for the vast majority of players. We have a number of female players from elite to grass roots happily using the R5, but we do acknowledge that it is not ideal if you have very long or large amounts of hair. As you mentioned in your review, we are working on a version specifically designed for large hair and we'd be delighted to keep you informed on our progress.

Purchased for my 9 year old son (going into U10’s this season). Unfortunately seems to be let down by the chin strap which is just a cheap piece of double sided velcro. He finds it very itchy and uncomfortable and not what I expected from a £100 product. Almost seems like a design after thought. He was very excited to get it but now doesn’t want to wear it at his rugby summer camps (despite our very poor attempts to improve it), thus giving no head protection at all at the moment. Hope for future iterations this is improved and hopefully something is done retrospectively for previous purchasers.

Hello and thank you so much for sharing this feedback with us. We agree that the current chin strap is rigid/scratchy and sometimes uncomfortable. To this point, over the next month, we have re-designed and will be shipping new, softer, and more comfortable straps to rectify this. We especially wish to validate the improvement with existing customers who find the current chinstraps difficult to wear. The plan is to send replacements to all customers with this concern. Please drop us an email info@hedkayse.com and we will ensure you are on the list for trialing this as soon as we have them ready. This is how we all get better, thank you!! Very best, George Fox MD, Hedkayse

5 years. Not even sure if I remember how to ride a bike at this point! ;)

Helmet was fiddly to adjust initially. Instructions aren't all that clear, and there is a strap that seems redundant as well as some pads. These aren't mentioned in the instructions. In use it feels heavy. On the plus side it seems to be well-made.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't find the fitting instructions clear. You can find additional information, including a video on our website here; https://www.hedkayse.com/pages/fitting-hedkayse-one Your safety is paramount to us so we would encourage you to get in touch to discuss the fitting as there should not be any spare straps. The spare pads are there to replace any wear and tear in the future or provide additional comfort should you need it. We look forward to talking to you and assisting you to get the most out of your Hedkayse | ONE🤗

I might grow to like the Hedkayse One, but I had to wait so long for it that I bought myself another helmet, which I prefer. The main problem with my Hedkayse One is that it is not the shape of my head! A round helmet fits my head; I do not have an oval head with a point at the front. I often wear a skull cap with earflaps, or a waterproof cap, underneath my helmet, and these make the Hedkayse more comfortable now that I've readjusted the straps. The folding facility does reduce its size somewhat, but I've already mislaid the strap that was provided to keep it 'folded'. When folded, it will fit in my saddlebag, which is handy. I wouldn't pay much for the Hedkayse, and I certainly wouldn't admit to anyone how much I did pay. I suppose if I regularly fell off my bike and hit my head the price of replacement standard helmets would eventually exceed the price of the Hedkayse, but I've not hit my head once yet. I am sorry my review is so negative, especially after 2-3 years of encouraging videos telling us about progress with design and manufacturing, but I don't feel I can recommend the Hedkayse yet.

Hi Ian, thank you for your feedback, we are disappointed that you don't feel your helmet has lived up to expectation. As an original Hedkayse supporter you are hugely important to us and we would love to help improve your experience. When you wear the helmet it will mould to fit your head, a bit like memory foam and therefore become more comfortable the longer it is worn, it will also take a lot of abuse too, so although you may not have a full impact (we hope you never have a crash obviously!) you can be sure that it will always be safe. We would love you to give your Hedkayse | ONE another chance and let us know how you get on. In the post is a replacement wrap-Strap and additional comfort pads with larger hook and loop dots to help out on your next ride🚲

I was disappointed with the helmet. It did not fold as small as I had expected and I found it difficult to fit.

Hi, Paul, we are sorry that the helmet hasn't lived up to your expectations. The helmet folds to at least 50% of its original width...don't be scared to apply some pressure, it can take it! If you need an additional Wrap-Strap to help keep it folded please let us know and we will gladly send one out.🙂
