“I enjoyed meeting the therapist and I was open to possible scenarios where I was happy to have a test for adhd if that’s what was believed to be wrong with me. However when I got home I did an online test of adhd and only one of the traits was evident in me - I WAS Fidgety and hyper and emotional and fast talking and panicky - but the only time I was like that was when I was with the therapist - I don’t talk to anyone else about my situation - I’ve been ignored for 8 and a half years so I was simply eager to get all the information out in the hour I had. My deafness and tinnitus is the reason why I wasn’t good at exams - but I’m never forgetful, I am able to concentrate quietly for hours on end and when I start projects I see them through to completion. When I got home o also remembered I’ve already seen a psychiatrist in 2017 and he said my issue was with shame and neither he nor any other therapist suspected adhd in the past because when they’d known me longer yhann50 minutes they could see that I am calm mostly . The panic I have is the fact that my mother is losing her memory and so I want this to be resolved as soon as possible. When the locks downs happened during the pandemic by the 3rd and fourth lockdowns people were climbing the walls and even communist China had to end restrictions for fear of rebellion - I can only liken it to that - after 8 and a half years of emotional familial lockdown I’ve had enough and o haven’t done s thing to deserve it and so I’m understandably agitated about that as anyone would be when they had a history that meant losing their family was their worst phobia - the therapist suspecting I had adhd seemed to be a preoccupation for her , it was a red herring and a waste of time”

(Please kindly note that we did not refer you for an ADHD assessment specifically, but for a general psychiatric consultation.) “Maria Daves was amazing, I would highly recommend her. But, I don't think it's very good that you have to pay for a full session to find out if you and your therapist match. The outcome was that I should deal with other aspects first. Surely this could have been brought up and a short meet up arranged to discuss suitability. Access to work funding is hard enough to get, that first session funding could have been used better.”

Whilst Harley Therapy do not offer a free meeting prior to scheduling an initial session, we do offer a satisfaction guarantee, whereby in the event a client feels there is not a suitable match with their therapist, we offer a free session with an alternative practitioner. With Maria's coaching approach, she factors in all the other aspects of someone’s wellbeing; for example, mental health and other co-mobidities, as these can amplify symptoms and impact the coaching. “Helped me through a difficult period, which I am grateful for. However, I feel like we were talking cross-purposes some of the time, and some key issues went uncommunicated or unacknowledged, which was a shame.”

Upon investigation, it appears that the system did not generate a copy for your therapist, although we confirm that your submission went through. Our sincere apologies for this technical error and we confirm that your therapist is now in receipt of your form.

“The professional I met was very polite. However, it should/ could have been specified before I applied for an appointment that she works with a certain age range which I was not part of.”

Thank you for your review. We can confirm that the therapist you requested, and subsequently saw for an assessment, does indeed see clients in your age range. However, the therapist felt a more suitable match would be with a younger therapist than herself. We offer a satisfaction guarantee, whereby in the event a suitable match is not made at the first assessment, a free appointment with an alternative therapist is offered. “The session was fine and I have no issues with the therapist. What I really have to question is the general operations of the first session. You ask your customers to use skype but do not provide any instruction as to how to set it up, how to use it. In the first session I spent 10 minutes trying to work out how to call the therapist and even when I called Harley Therapy for support I do not think they knew how it worked. When you are paying so much for a session you kind of expect to just be able to go to your emails, click a link and then join a call. I have never seen anything like this in the past year and although it is a small thing it makes me question the quality of the operations as this is such a basic error.”

Thank you very much for your review. We apologise for the difficulties you encountered with using Skype to contact your therapist. Each practitioner has their own preferred platform to conduct their online sessions, and your therapist uses Skype as their chosen platform. However, following your feedback we will be liaising with the practitioners who currently use Skype, with a view to looking at alternative and more straightforward online options.

“The therapist themselves good, but the skype address given would not work and after trying for 15 minutes, eventually used phone. So that meant i used a 35min session but paid for 50min - and at £250 i’m not to impressed.”
