“The Carlise Victorian handles are good but unfortunately they’ve changed the screws since the last ones I purchased from them, for inferior ones that make the product unfit for purpose and more trouble than they are worth, without buying better quality screws with a deeper slot from another source. Carlise never got back to me about this failing despite promises to do so. However the team at Handles4 Home did, and sent me another packet of alternative screws that did the job. So thank you to them. If you want these handles to match previous ones you may have, make sure you obtain better screws before starting the job. The slot is to shallow and sheers off, leaving the handle half on or off and impossible to remove without careful use of pliers if it hasn’t been driven in beyond the point of no return. It’s a real shame Carlisle have cut corners on what is otherwise a good handle.”

“Arrived on time unfortunately a door latch I ordered was not in the box door handles and hinges where there when I contacted was told it was in box under handles I looked but it wasn't there, I sent another email but didn't get any response Was pleased with the handles they feel good quality but not so impressed with the customer service ok the catch was only a couple of pounds but that's not the point. Would I order again perhaps not.”

“I wasn't extremely impressed with the condition of the items on delivery - they were scuffed as if they had not been stored properly, or perhaps it was just the quality of the products in general. Delivery was fine.”

“Good choice of fittings in different sizes that arrived quickly and seem decent quality. However, one drawback was there was only one option of fitting screw length - and the supplied screws were too long for the thickness of our door. Since there was no info on the screw gauge etc it too me trial and error at Screwfix to find suitable bolts of the right size. Achieved in the end though and happy with the result - would just suggest customising bolt length in the first place to accommodate different door thicknesses.”

hi Paul, thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear that you had trouble with the fixing bolts for your letter plate, however the manufacturers all supply a bolt with a length which will cover 99% of door thicknesses in the UK. So if you did need shorter bolts you would need to cut them down with a junior hacksaw or similar. It would be impossible to offer bolt length customisation for products such as these, hence why the bolts are sometimes longer than you need, dependent on your door thickness. Hi Andy, thank you for reviewing your guardsman pull handles. The bolts supplied will suit up to 70mm thick exterior doors, so it sounds like your door was unusually thick. If you still need longer bolts please let us know and we will obtain them for you. Many thanks Handles 4 Homes Ltd

“Good delivery and fair price. Although H4H tried their best with dimensions of letter box they neglect to inform prospective purchasers of need to rebate holes in door to accommodate fixing nuts which stand proud of front of letter box. Some form of fixing template would also be useful so as to drill holes without trying to fiddle with box fixings and mark door - especially opening for flap.”

“Purchasing for H4H was simple, however communication from the delivery side was none existant, until I contacted you direct twice to find out when the delivery would arrive we were left guessing, you did however email me with an update but nothing from the courier, Also the £160 white door jamb was sticking out of the packaging which in turn caused some transport scuffs marks which can be managed. Better packaging, better courier and better communication required.”

“First of all I was very disappointed in that you were unable to supply L/H handles as a pair in Polished Chrome, the only option I had was to purchase two full sets. Secondly when the two sets arrived one was Polished Chrome the other was Polished Brass. This added time onto the exchange and required me to arrange for the Brass set to be sent back.”

“Reasonable quality. Poor clearancce fit on the articulate joint pin. Hook to keeper is great but the excessive play n the pin causes the door to rattle on a windy day. Shame.”

“I have dealt with this company before and given a 5 star rating for customer service (sales), quality and choice of stock. On this occasion I was disappointed that I placed and paid for an order and some 3 days later was told that the second set of items was not in stock and could take 6 weeks or more. It then took a week to action the partial refund. I appreciate that unforeseen problems can sometimes arise but when an item is out of stock why don't these companies just say so BEFORE they take your money?! I shall use them again but check the stock situation first!”

“Handles were exactly as described and arrived timely. However, 4 of the 8 screws included in this package were duff -- too shallow for any flat head screwdriver to comfortably screw into tough wooden doors, and eventually scraping the brass away at the top where you screw. This was inconvenient, though fortunately I kept the screws of my old door handle fixture that were deep enough for this job.”

“Handles4Homes have a good range of door handles at reasonable prices. When I placed my order everything was showing as in stock. However the company called me a day or two later to say some goods were out of stock. They offered to send part of my order but I heard nothing after that and am still waiting - totally unsure of what to expect and by when.”
