Ladybird larvae arrived with much lower numbers than advertised. Had to order more and ordered some Phytoseiulus. Still waiting for the additional larvae after a week with no update. Phytoseiulus arrived but failed to work on red spider mite- looked under microscrope today- the phytosilulus were all dead, and definitely not 1000- hence why had no effect. Took over a week to respond to initial email about low numbers of larvae -offered to replace but had already ordered more, still waiting. When dealing with a pest problem that you want to avoid using insecticide a over a week is too long.

Order twice from this company. Firstly ladybird larvae, which when arrived had already hatched and starting to eat one another. I then ordered 50 live ladybird. On arrive there was 31 dead ones. This company is not uk based. So it takes far to long to receive. I'm sorry but won't use again.

Thanks for the comments and apologies if the ladybirds have not arrived in tip top condition. We are UK based (Chandlers End, Mill Road, Stokesby, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR29 3EY) but at this time of year when there aren't that many orders for ladybirds, they are sent direct from the breeder, but they still should arrive in good condition. The ladybirds are chilled before despactch which means they can be a bit lifeless but normally come back to life if you pop them somewhere warm to warm them up. Took over a week for lady birds to be delivered, helpful staff advised me that they come from Belgium, I do not recall seeing this anywhere when I ordered.

Thanks for the comments and at this time of year when there aren't that many orders for ladybirds, they are sent direct from the breeder, but they still should arrive in good condition. Once the order volumes increase (in a couple of weeks) we will stock them ourselves and despatch direct from Suffolk. Jonathan @ Green Gardener.

I cannot write a review at this time as the goods have not yet arrived, so I have no idea of their quality. Everything is on trust.

Thanks for the review and you should have received an email from us confirming the order? The Ladybird Larvae are being posted direct from the breeder at this time of year and we ordered them on Monday, so they should be arriving anytime now by 1st class post. Thanks for the feedback and apologies if you are having trouble getting hold of us. We do work reduced hours in the winter but we are still here from 9.00am to 1pm 7 days a week, so you should be able to get hold of us plus I do leave the answer phone on out of hours and always ring people back. We did move office 6 weeks ago so the best number to get us on is 01493 750061? I did email you the other day about this order - the ladybird larvae you ordered are being posted direct from the breeder at this time of year and we ordered them on Monday, so they should be arriving anytime now. The product arrived just 2 days before the use by date and this was not what I had expected. Arriving on a Saturday to use by Monday . The instructions were, after treating the area, let dry. It is the middle of winter and very wet. I would have preferred to have waited for a later despatch when the weather would allow the soil to dry out. Jean Sanderson. Thanks for the message and I am a little confused - we received fresh stocks of all our nematodes after Christmas and it all has a months expiry date on it i.e. 6th of Feb, so I suspect your packs are dated the same and not just in 2 days time. The Sciaird fly nematodes you ordered are for use indoors - Sciarid Fly is a indoor pest (also known as compost fly), so the weather would not have affected application. Can you confirm what you are trying to treat and where it is and can you double check the expiry date? If it is easier to ring me, please feel free to do so on 01394 421112. Jonathan @ Green Gardener

I have bought treatments for both leatherjackets and chafer grubs (applied at the same time) on three occasions in the last few years and they do not live up to the claims made for them. Despite the claims that such treatments are worthwhile and some correspondents suggesting that they found them to be a success, like a number of other correspondents I disagree. Given the substantial cost of such treatments, I shall not be buying them again as they appear to be a waste of money.

Thanks for the review and I am sorry that the products have not worked for you> Both of these products are specific to the pests and are normally very effective, so there is abviously a reason why they are not working. I recently ordered and received 80? ladybird larvae. Unfortunately they were so small that when I tried to distribute them on the beans which had blackfly, most of them just blew away, I tried to shield them from the wind, but they were so small that they weren't big enough to hang on. I guess some of them managed to make it up the stems of the beans, but it was very disappointing. I didn't realise that they would be that tiny when sent out. I tried to find some several times recently, but each time I could find no more than two. I think a warning that they would be so small would have been appropriate.
