I first contacted Go Assist on Wednesday 6 April regarding my oven extractor fan which was not functioning. I had discussed the options of the services offered by Go Assist with Catherine. As I selected the package which included Insurance cover, Catherine advised me that my payment would include all aspects of the service: including labour, the repair, and replacement of any parts for the extractor fan. I was also advised that there would be no further payment to be made by myself. I was also informed by Catherine that, based on my coverage option, if required, I would be offered a replacement of a 'like for like' equipment where required. I was offered further discounts and a subscription to their Home Cover. On this basis, after comparing service offered by other companies, I proceeded with procuring the service of Go-Assist as it all seemed a good offer. The technician visited on 8 April (for 5 minutes of diagnostics) and advised that he could not complete the repair as he did not have the required parts. He advised he will need to submit a report to his office for the parts to be ordered. I was, however, very confused GoAssist informed me that I was required to make further payments for replacement parts for the repair. My understanding was that I had no further payments, based on my initial conversation and agreement with Catherine. Subsequently, after speaking to another advisor at Go Assist, and reviewing the information I received in an email regarding costs and payments required, I have now come to understand that I was misled, and the information provided to me by Catherine at the point of purchase on 6 April was very inaccurate. In addition reviewing the Big Warranties’ (the part of the business that handles the Warranties and Insurance) terms and conditions, clause 13 under Section 6 'What is not Insured' states that the policy does not cover 'Any pre-existing fault prior to You taking out this insurance.' My call to GoAssist/Big Warranties on 6 April clearly stated that the extractor fan required a repair as it was not working so clearly had a fault. My purchase (and full upfront payment) of the service and insurance warranty was on the advice of the sales representative that the policy would cover the labour, repair, and replacement parts of my extractor fan. Why was I then sold insurance for an appliance that I reported as needing repair, especially if it does not align with the policy's conditions? Based on the details outlined above, I believe I was mis-sold a repair service and insurance policy from Go Assist/Big Warranties and consider this to be a concerning breach of regulations and consumer trust. I have made a request for the recording of the several conversations I had with Catherine on 6 April to be reviewed in line with the escalation route. I have also requested a copy of the recording and transcript to be provided to me. I would recommend that others request this if in doubt. As one reviewer on another review site has rightfully mentioned in relation to GoAssist: 'The Misrepresentation Act 1967 is an Act which governs English contract law in the United Kingdom in situations where misrepresentation is involved, prior to parties entering into a contractual agreement. A misrepresentation can be considered to be a false statement of fact which prompts an individual to enter into a contract on the basis of that false statement. Misrepresentation can be established with three different types of statement. These are fraudulent, negligent and innocent misrepresentations and are often considered tiered in terms of severity by the courts.' This still has not been resolved. I have also been informed by GoAssist that I am not eligible for a refund, but have made a request for the call logs to be reviewed in their entirety (as the response initially received reflected only a partial review of the conversation).

A very shifty company that charged me to "repair" my cooker extractor a year ago. An untrained individual attended to tick the attendance box and then left stating he couldn't fix it, over £100 later I thought that would be the end of it. A year later I have been charged a fee from this company, investigations still pending. AVOID at all costs!

I was ripped off, expensive part to fix my washing machine which proved faulty within the same day, came back days later deemed it not worthy of repairing. No refund because part was fitted, my question was why fit it if it's not worthy of a repair. Be very aware!! They don't care once they have your money

Paid up front for a fixed price boiler repair 2 weeks ago my boiler still isn’t fixed via this company. Passed from pillar to post ended up with a local engineer and he fixed it within 48 hrs. I’ve taken this up with my back for a. Refund on my card and also complained to gas safe and trading standards. Awful company DO NOT USE

I had a terrible experience with this company. They sent an engineer but they did not send any paperwork. When the engineer came, he told me I would need a new part and that they would contact me. They did after 3 weeks and asked for a further £100. Again no receipt. After week 7 I checked with the company they said they had no record of my name or the order. AVOID THIS COMPANY - not to be trusted.

How on earth you can call yourselves professional when the service you provided today was absolutely non existent? Money paid upfront for absolutely nothing. The oven repair guy turns up, takes a quick look and in his own words, "too difficult to fix"....then disappears. Sent a complaint via email demanding our hard earned money back. If the firm has any redeeming qualities, they will reimburse us promptly. So angry!

SHOCKING DO NOT USE This company does not supplied the service they advertise. Saying will have someone out in 4 hours and heating fixed is a lie I rang as someone else has totally destroyed my boiler told then the story and they replied yes we can help someone came out from the company stated he wasn’t fixing it then just to take photos would be back tomorrow with his boss to sort. The following day nothing when contacted they refused to to fix boiler as it was in bits and that they had done there job looking at it. I was charged to have 10 photos taken of boiler and conned into taking a warranty out that stands for nothing. Do not use

Shocking service Engineers have no idea what they are doing and order wrong parts - parts are ridiculously expensive so think they make it up - Would never use again or recommend to anyone I have been waiting 8 weeks for someone to repair my cooker. They don’t answer the phone either and pass you backwards and forwards to different departments and don’t have a clue what they are doing

My trust in companies is at an old time low Our heating broke and my hubby went on line to try get someone to come out We paid 119 plus subscription fee we had no phone calls as promised nobody phoned us before they arrived I then had an engineer come out that fixed what he said was the problem and charged us another £27 the following day we woke up to no heating once again when I contacted the company we were told that they were awaiting another parts for the £195 needed to be paid upfront in order to carry out the next lot of work when I refuse to pay I was told that I was rude and that they would not be able to fix my heating unless I pay that amount of money after lots of telephone conversations they agreed that I would phone up in the morning to find out if an engineer would come out when I called the next morning as they didn’t call me I was told that the engineer was unavailable and that had I just simply paid the money upfront none of this would go on blackmail by company I’m now seeking advice to try and get my money back

They are a load of rubbish, all they do is take your money off you and do nothing. I’ve been waiting 6 weeks for a repare on my freezer! All I get from them is that the part hasn’t arrived yet. They also keep your debit card number to pay for anything else that is needed. You can’t do that! Your out of order. Load of rubbish

Take your money, promise repairs within 48 hours and then call back the next day to say that if they are to reach your postcode (as already promised) you would need to top up your payment, by approximately £150.

Do not use this company. Paid £149 and they carried out no work what so ever. They never answer the phone and hide behind emails. I used them in good faith as I knew where my shower was leaking but they claimed to have diagnosed the repair which is false. No refund was given as they had attended my property for less than 5 minutes. I have had the issue fixed professionally now and would never contact them again or recommend you do.

Take your money without fixing the problem. The workman sent out took more money, still problem not fixed. Major issues that when complaint made they completely ignored. Avoid at all costs

Go Assist informed that they drawn £125 from my bank account and that a rep would be arriving on 02/02/2021. I waited all day but nobody showed up. I tried to get in touch with them but nobody was answering the phone.
