Dismal and costly experience with repairs department Last week we spent nearly £300 on repairs to a dishwasher (over £131 for initial callout + inspection, over £164 for the spare part + engineer's return visit). A day later the machine broke again. Glotech's first reaction was to tell us that subsequent callout charges are £65. Several unfulfilled promises to ring back to give us quotes for a replacement dishwasher. Finally spoke to a more sympathetic member of staff today, but it's too late - we've already bought a replacement elsewhere.

Came out to fix a leaking Ice Maker in a Samsung fridge. Having replaced the part the ice maker was still dripping some weeks later so they came back out and said the freezer wasn’t cold enough and that the ice maker issue could be due to a leaking compressor. On getting a certified Samsung engineer out he said the issue wasn’t and wouldn’t be a compressor and that the freezer was fine. The leaking ice box was due to a clogged fan. Fixed it all and questioned most of what this engineer had said. Can’t recommend to use again…

Office staff lovely and as helpful as can be. Engineer in the ws13 area unhelpful and after waiting 4 days for him to come out then got cancelled until the next day; 2 days after that once the repair was finished he left without checking the washer dryer was in working order and then denied the fault was anything to do with him. Booked a revisit at the soonest date which was another 6 days away, not good enough for a professional company such as this wouldn’t recommend.

Thermostat on my 2yo Neff oven stopped working so phoned local Beverley Appliance Repairs (I thought) on 16th Sept. I had in fact been patched to the ?parent Glotech. Was told that the part (very small) would probably be on the van when the engineer arrived (23rd Sept). It wasn't. It had to be "sourced". I sourced one online in about two minutes but had paid the call-out charge by then. Eventually "sourced" and fitted on 14 Oct. Seems to me there is quite a bit of subterfuge here too, On Glotech front page there are ten 5-star reviews. That is all. Further investigation reveals all those like mine, which will never appear. Nothing wrong with the engineer and the people on the phone pleasant enough, but the glibness with which all concerned parried all my complaints and comments lead me to think they are very experienced at it. A month to get a thermostat fitted? Not again.

Your telephone staff very polite but due to your company policy not much help she want to pay £120.00 for the repair service person to come and look Sorry but not much help the door seal is broken its freezing up in the lower door area That would mean 2 visits minimum So why couldn’t i speak and get some approximate cost guide

I gave a full description of the problem with my washer dryer and still they came out and charged me to do a 30 second check and tell me that the bearings were worn and that the whole drum needed replacing; that it was prohibitively expensive and buying a new machine was a better option. They offered to sell me some replacements at uncompetitive prices. The service was quick and engineer polite, but the whole callout and charge could have been avoided and seemed like a rip-off.

The chap turned up on Wednesday and after some brief checks told me there was a blockage, which seems to have cleared I was told. Ran the dishwasher Wednesday night on a short programme and it stopped working after 6 minutes, with water in the bottom of the dishwasher, so the problem has not been resolved. I would really like the matter resolved on the second visit next Tuesday .

I been left feeling a little bit ripped off to be honest it may of been partly my own fault for doing half the work prior to the technician coming out he asked me what I had done and checked then popped his hand inside of the drum gave it a little turn and said yep your right needs a motor. Then gave me a price on a motor and said it may not fix it so I declined he asked me to settle the bill and was gone within 10 mins.

Engineer was only just in the time window. Then didn’t fix the issue. Now got to wait 3-7 days for parts

The engineer turned up and took the model number of the machine and said as the machine was more than 5 years old parts would be very expensive, and thats if they could get them. So it cost £95 to be told get a new machine if your appliance is over 5 years old. Would be good if they told you that on the appointment stage you could then put the money directly to a new machine.

I paid £87 for an engineer to come round and tell me my wine cooler was broken!!! I already knew that, that’s why I called you. Then I’m told it can’t be fixed. Surely the engineer knows that the parts are discontinued before he arrives!!!

Disappointed to say the least repair man came I told him fridge freezer had only been on for 2 hours he opened the fridge compartment and said soft back wall did not attempt to pull fridge out and check anything did not even get a tool out of his bag I have only had fridge freezer 5 years he said yes that’s about right. Felt like it was a quick fix to get £90 pound out of me

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We understand that it is disappointing to find out that the appliance is unrepairable. When this sort of thing happens we are left to very little that we can do on your behalf. We will make sure your comments are passed on to the engineering manager to ensure that our practices are being maintained. Kind Regards, Glotech.

See trust pilot from Dale. Basically one of your highly trained and experience team should of put two and two together and provided excellent customer service by phoneing me and making me aware it is highly likely to be the bearings and that for my make and model its all one unit so engineer will not be able to replace them. £90 for 10 mins 'work' (which involved spinning the drum). Judging by the spate of one star reviews recently i can only hope potential people read these and avoid you.

The technician who looked at our washer was very nice, but the needed part was out of stock and if we hadn't chased up the company for information, we would have sat waiting indefinitely. We wound up cancelling the full repair as we couldn't go longer without a working washing machine.

I was abit disappointed that the engineer that came didn't even attempted to look at the fridge. He basically saw the installation wasn't right and then said the noise it was making meant it would be too expensive to fix. It didn't feel very scientific. £99 for nothing really. They did get someone out very quickly though and they did turn up on time. He also told me what the sizes were needed to go in the space I have.

Took to long to repair because part was not in stock. Engineer was unhelpful and didn’t offer any assistance in putting machine back in place.

Good Afternoon looking at your booking which was booked on the 23-5-23 for a tumble-drier which before the Bank Holiday the engineer did attend on the 31st of may and yes unfortunately he did carry the part you required in his van stock how ever this was ordered from the supplier and as soon as this arrived the engineer attended and on 1st of June the part was fitted and the appliance tested according to the notes this was a total of 6 working days we apologies that this was not quick enough service for you however we are pleased to know the repair resolved the issue with the tumble drier and wish you well with the appliance in the future - thank you. Please send an email to repairs@glotech.com with all details and we can then speak with the engineer Manager and investigate regarding the lack of assistance with the appliance being replaced as this is not a normal response from our team of engineers. Thank you

Unfortunately the repairman who visited said the part I required was no longer available. Charged me the call out fee and off he went. Felt very undervalued as a customer and probably didn’t fully understand the terms of business. I won’t however be using this service again. I feel if the product isn’t viable to repair the call out charge should be waived, 😠

I think that the system is a bit of a con as in the majority of cases the cost of repair is more than the cost of a new machine, so you are paying an engineer £90 for doing nothing.
