I've just re-joined GEM. I've been a member before, but in recent years my car insurance has included breakdown cover. This is no longer the case, so I'm very happy to be a GEM member again. GEM has always looked after me well when I've broken down, and the website and joining process is, as I would expect, easy, straightforward and no nonsense.

Used the service for a hood problem at home. Driver helped solve the issue but left quickly leaving me to put the car back together. It was the end of his shift and really all he wanted to do was take the car to a dealer and hurry away.

Good value for money as they cover a lot more than most breakdown companies, eg. Punctures, classic cars, etc. It is just a shame new customers get a better deal than existing customers.

I have only just taken out breakdown cover but the process to take it out online was extremely easy. I studied various other breakdown covers before I chose Gem motoring assist. It really was not difficult and if I do need to use the service over the next few months, I am sure i will not be disappointed.......Pam

At renewal time, having compared prices with other breakdown providers, I found GEM was no longer the cheapest provider for the level of cover I required. I rang GEM, the customer advisor was friendly and offered a free month's cover, which I accepted and renewed my cover for another year.

I have only recently joined Gem Motoring Assist and I have not needed to use the breakdown cover yet (thankfully). What I can comment on is how easy it was to join online. It was very easy to follow and hopefully I will not need the service but if I do, I am sure they will not let me down.

Did a search for a breakdown company who dealt with cars over 10 years old without massive surcharge. Found out about GEM, read reviews, all sounded good so I called. British based customer service lady was brilliant, long story short signed up for cover. Just hope I will never need it.

We broke down at 10.30am. It's 6pm and we're still not home. Would have been quicker to walk 19 miles.

I was sorry and disappointed to read that the service provided to your breakdown was below our usual standard. I have arranged for the incident to be investigated. Call Assist, the service provider on behalf of the underwriters will respond to you directly in due course and in the meantime I apologise for any inconvenience suffered.

Your service was excellent as usual. The person I spoke to for the renewal of my subscription (Di) was friendly, courteous and efficient. Well done guys - keep up the great work!

Happy with the breakdown service and other benefits of the GEM policy but not happy that it cost £88 to renew it as an existing policyholder when the website price for new customers is £81.
