Clear and Simple to join. I joined because GEM is a Which recommended provider and competitively priced. I haven't had cause to call them out to a breakdown yet so cannot comment on that but the cards and details arrived quickly and communication options appears to be good.

payment system by card was too coplicated. visa alsorts was needed and I had no idea of password. Tele direct with you was alright

I was looking for a good replacement for my RAC policy (held since 1978) which was increasing by 40% this year to an extortionate £450. GEM seems to offer a very similar service at 1/3 the price to cover 3 drivers. I chose GEM following the Which rating and further research. The sign-up was quick and easy, the documents easy to understand.

This is a review of my joining experience only. The website was clear, responsive and easy to navigate. The quote was very competitive. So I have paid for next year's breakdown cover.

After years with the AA, I got fed up with them bumping up the price every year and then reducing when I complained. This year my quote went up to £288 for two people. they offered a 25% reduction taking it to £216... their final offer. It was a no brainer to choose GEM after them being voted top breakdown cover and the introductory offer price of £111.93 for the same cover.

The process of taking out a policy was simple and swift. The documentation was easily understood, and value-for-money payment was hassle-free. I cannot comment on the quality of the cover yet, of course, although it looks to be comprehensive.

It was relatively simple to subscribe to Gem breakdown cover. However when I tried to join online by selecting the direct debit option, I got declined. I phoned Gem and was told it won’t let me choose that option for “security reasons”! So why is it there?! Other than than, it was fine

Dear GEM Member, Thank you for posting a review of your joining process. We are sorry that you encountered a problem with setting up a Direct Debit. There could be a number of reasons for failing the Credit Reference Agency (CRA) check that we use. For instance not all banks and building societies submit data to the CRA’s or it may be a business or non-current account such as an ISA or savings account that does not share consent. Your account may not be consented to share with the CRA. This is more likely if the account is older – i.e. opened prior to 2000 – your account may be known as a ‘non-consented account’ with the CRA. After this date most banks began obtaining customer consent to share this data and most new accounts are . We take this opportunity to welcome you to GEM Motoring Assist. Kind Regards The GEM Team.

Straightforward registration procedure, not too many boxes to fill. Changing account details is uncomplicated.

Dear GEM Member, Thank you for posting your review. We do not take vehicle details as it's the policyholders covered driving any private car , or motorcycle. we also cover small vans (up to 2500kg GVW) some motorhomes/campers. Hope this clarifies. Kind Regards. The GEM Team.
