Only just signed up but the website seemed very clear, straightforward and helpful. From what I can see there seem to be a wide range of cover at a fraction of the cost of similar cover with the AA. I am wondering why I did not check this out earlier!

This concerns joining GEM. It was quite easy on line but I have knocked it down 2 stars because I could not set up a direct debit. There appears to be a problem between GEM and the banking world. When trying to submit the Direct Debit on line it would not validate. GEM told me to contact my bank and my bank told me to contact GEM as they should raise the Direct Debit. GEM told me they would get the same result. I was also told by GEM that the problem often occurs when someone has been with their bank too long!! Hope their recovery service turns out better than this otherwise it will be bye bye GEM!!

I only rejoined Gem Motoring Assist a couple of weeks ago, but I found the customer services department and the sales person most helpfull. They were very informative and made it easy for me to choose Gem Motoring Assist. Many thanks Dave Twynham.

The choice of cover was from a compare site and provided exactly what was needed at an affordable price bettering not only last years cost with RAC but at 60% less than the renewal price being offered. Hopefully wont need it but its comprehensive cover provides great peace of mind.

I have had contact so far with GEM just to sign up for breakdown cover. Interaction via the web site was difficult. It turned out to be that Sophos A-V had detected somewhere on Gem references to Gambling. I contacted GEM by phone. The lady to whom I spoke could not have been more efficient and had the additional qualities of being simple and friendly and had either not yet acquired or had already discarded the sing song tone now customary with call centre operatives who are working their way through a checklist which ends with 'your credit card number, please'. Their site is excellent too: simply, and thus clearly laid out. It pointed me to an App which I can pre-load with my membership number and use with the phone's Geo-locatio facility. Then, if need help, I can simply press my phone and this will call Gem to arrange a rescue So, after one day, Good;

Very easy experience joining up, a welcome change to have the telephone answered by an actual person and not a machine.

Remarkably easy to join with options clearly spelt out. I particularly like that it is the person who is insured rather than a vehicle. This simplifies matters if for example, I am driving my wife's car. The premiums seem reasonable and for example are lower than the two main providers.

Not needed assistance yet but diane was very helpfull and polite,no push button menus,through to a helpfull human twice within three rings! A.a. take note! A twenty minute wait and then someone who could barely speak english! Gem ,so far so good!

So easy to join, got very clear and useful info on joining and of course choosing your policy is so easy with only 2 options. Made me feel that leaving my usual provider was the right decision.

Very easy to join,had been with the RAC for nearly 40 years. Having not called out a breakdown service for over 10 years,I can't really review the breakdown side of GEM.The reviews do look good which is why I joined.

Relatively straightforward to join. Bit surprised there isn't a "what to do if you do break down" document with phone nos. membership no, etc. on it. Ended up generating one myself, as if you do break down it is invariably in a remote location at an inconvenient time and that's the point that you need that one bit of paper saying who to call with all the required details on.
