We've had breakdown insurance with all the major companies but GEM come out on top every time for us. Our dealings with them have made difficult situations very simple. The staff are always helpful and kind, and we can recommend them.

Have used many recovery outfits before but always come back to GEM. They cannot be beaten for speed of recovery or quality of service. Top marks for GEM 10/10. Thank you.

It was easy enough to take a recovery package but (if I understand correctly) I was a little disappointed that the "reclaim expenses" scheme only covers up to £70, when recovery can be more costly than this. . I should have studied the terms more closely.

Thank you for your review. Outside a 1/4 mile from your home address breakdowns are fully covered and you will receive a full refund of expenses. If you are at the home address or within a 1/4 mile, lock your keys in the vehicle, misfuel, had an accident or suffer theft or vandalism there is a limit of £70.00 reimbursement. Pleased to give you some comments. Your application process is not transparent, as an applicant you are guessing what is going to be requested at the next step. give us a clue up front. I signed up up but was shocked to be told my paperwork/card would take 14 days to be delivered. In modern day this is astonishing. Finally, your app. Looks great but tried to download it on an Android phone. Wish I had not tried. Thirty minutes to find my phone throwing out app just makes me think again. I sill cannot download app to phone and probably never will. You need to fix this. Do it right or not at all. Hope the comments help

Dear Sir, Thank you for your comments. As you joined online, your documents are available online as soon as payment is made so there is actually no 14 day wait for ‘paperwork’ as you mention because your documents are available immediately. When you purchased your policy the notification actually said ‘You should receive your membership card(s) within 14 days.’ The membership card(s) is produced and sent separately by post, generally this will be received well within this period but you should allow up to 14 days for receipt. It is a shame for yourselves that you don't provide a renewal of membership over the bank holidays as I have now become a new member. I am £30.00 better off because of this.....

I have been a member for 22 years now, and on the rare occasions I have needed help, it was always there. Very quick and great service from the various garages sent to me. I have recommended GEM to friends, and a few have joined up.

Brilliant service but giving new customers a discount over your existing loyal customers doesnt sit well and it time a loyalty discount was introduced to at least match the new customer pricing.

I have been with GEM for 30 years and took 1 years break because I received 1 year of breakdown service free with a new car. Thankfully I have only used GEM about three times and twice I called a garage out first and the third time I used their control centre. The payments have always been quick and the service very efficient. There was no problem signing up again, I will always recommend GEM over the other breakdown services.
