Take your premiums each month, don't pay out on valid claims, communication is extremely poor, would never use again

Took out a policy 24th December 2020 for an HMO property, paid just over £1,600.00 in full as one payment. very poorly explained, I asked for policy details in plain English showing me exactly what I’m covered for and the booklet explaining exactly what cover I have to be posted to me. Did not receive any booklet and everything is not clear online.

We had a house fire on 21st December. We had zero support or help from this insurer. 3 weeks with no sockets in the whole house and no heating. Initially their response was ‘we can’t do anything, we are not an emergency service’, so much for a duty of care! This Wednesday a very competent electrician came out and recommended installing emergency heating immediately as a risk of frozen pipes. This had to be signed off by the insurance company and could be done immediately....... nothing again. So will call Home Protect again tomorrow followed by a call to Financial Conduct Authority.

Totally inept and wholly inadequate response to a house fire I and my family suffered. Slow to respond and provided incorrect assessments of the property. 8 days after the fire we've still not had any action taken and have had to do most of the running around ourselves. Certainly would not recommend their services, please do look elsewhere. If I could give them less than 1 star I certainly would.

A very straightforward experience when arranging my home and buildings cover. The renewal quote I received from my old insurer prompted me to search online. The policy was a renewal as I have been with HomeProtect for a few years now. After reviewing the policy to update various items I was delighted to find out that the yearly cost had decreased, without reducing the insured values. Excellent service.

Renewal was an easy process throughout. Our two premiums had a slight increase although there was no explanation for this. It would be helpful to know the reasons. We have not had to make any claims. Thank you for your service.
