The price of the combined contents and buildings insurance was highly competitive last year. I searched for a better deal this year...I found that the slight increase in the premium was still good value for the coverage I have chosen. A month or more before the renewal was due, I received an email reminder. It was clearly explained that there may be cheaper deals out there. Documents were emailed and an electronic signature was sufficient for the "credit" for paying the insurance premium monthly. I am happy to stay with HomeProtect.

Home Protect had all the elements I was looking for in a house and contents policy, especially as my property is a BISF building. I've now got everything covered inside and out, plus legal cover at a great price so now have peace of mind and navigating the online application pages was very easy. I was with another well known home insurance provider for a number of years and never bothered to check the renewal details, so let that policy run on, however upon checking the policy details for this year I found that the premium had gone up for another year, and value of cover down, so did a comparison search and Home Protect had the best and most competitive deal. As I did everything on line I haven't had any contact with their customer service team so cannot rate good or bad, but for the price, I would say HP home insurance is worth considering.

Just be aware if you have jewellery items purchased for under the high risk limit of £1,500, even if you have a receipt they will send it off for valuation and increase the value for all jewellery 5% per year owned and 7-8% per year for watches. This sounds great until you try to make a claim. I bought a necklace two years ago for £1,400 not knowing this fact when I took out the policy so didn’t itemise it on the items over the high risk value. After a break in and the necklace was taken they have valued it at £1,540, sounds great but NO, they won’t pay out anything on that item as it’s over the £1,500 limit by £40

I spoke to a lady who was patient and helpful. However, as she was working from home, she transferred me to a colleague elsewhere, who took the payment. I was suspicious, but my renewed policy details are all online, so it must have all been legitimate. Adapting to changing times.

Over five months, and claim still not sorted. Don’t bother putting a complaint in even though my has been upheld and the customer relations team agrees I have reason to complain, still nothing happening. Broken promises that I will get a call back, requests for the same evidence I have already sent, made to feel like I am the criminal not the victim (my house was broken into), stalling tactics so they don’t have to pay put, and offer much less than what the claim is for. Will never use this company again. They were quick to take my money for the years insurance but not so keen on paying out. They are an absolute shambles.
