An essential tool for people running their own business. It is also very user friendly and you don't need to be remotely numerate to make sense of what you have to do but the support from the team is first class when you need advice. Free Agent has transformed the financial management of my business.

I was so happy to discover FreeAgent after years of struggling with spreadsheets! The programme is easy to use and particularly helpful if you find visual displays (graphs, colours etc) appealing to work with. The online support is fast, friendly and very efficient. I highly recommend Freeagent as it has revolutionised my accounts! I actually look forward to doing them now!

I've been with FreeAgent for 7 months now and could not be without it. It took time and a lot of patience from the support team, but now I use it to mail invoices, reminders and it has made my life (& my accountant's) so much easier. It works out everything out and all I have to do is check that the balances tally and explain my transactions and as of by magic it does all the hard work. I'm so pleased I joined and so is my accountant, the taxman and VAT!!!

As an extremely busy small trader handling a very large number of online orders daily, we need as much automation as possible. Setting up data-feeds from our various banks and paypal was quick and easy, and now saves HUGE amounts of time. FreeAgent is easy to set up, easy to understand and easy to use. I've used competing online accountancy software and nothing comes close to the ease of use with FreeAgent. And whenever something doesn't make sense or i'm a bit stuck their support team helps me out every time. Love FreeAgent.

I love FreeAgent. It's the first time in 19 years of running my own company that I've had my books up to date throughout the year rather than leaving it to the last minute. I think the automatic feed from my bank is a key feature in achieving this. Keeping my books up to date not only reduces the stress of end of year deadlines but it makes chasing down unexplained transactions so much easier. It's a lot simpler to work out what a transaction is when it's only a few days old instead of trying to remember what happened 9 months ago. For the first time, I now have an overview of exactly what I am owed and what my estimated tax liability is. Also, the payroll is a breeze. <3 FreeAgent!

Good accounting software and still improving and updating, which is always a good sign. The customer service is fantastic and they have helped me with various accounting and software queries. They are also open to software feedback. I would recommend the software to everyone.

Generally I like Freeagent more than other invoice and time tracking services I've used, however there are a few issues I've had. 1) The support tends to be a bit simplistic. I'm a web developer, and when I report a problem in detail, I expect that I won't be forced to waste time going through all the first level support steps, when I've clearly reported a bug in the software. 2) The app itself is a bit slow. 3) The path between estimates and tasks is nonexistent. You can only convert and estimate to an invoice. This works fine for fixed bid projects, but if I was doing fixed bids, I wouldn't need to be tracking time anyway. There needs to be a way to create an estimate and convert the line items to tasks, so that I don't constantly have to re-enter that information. 4) The API seems rather stagnant. On the API forum, there have been a number of requests to allow for invoices to be downloaded via the API, which has been acknowledged by the staff, but not handled. It seems this is par for the course with other API feature requests as well. 5) I'd love to be able to turn off the accounting features. I only use the service for estimates, time tracking, expenses and invoicing, so I wish there was a way to hide the accounting area (especially on the dashboard) as it doesn't accurately reflect my finances. So generally I'm happy with the product. There are a lot of things that could be improved, and I would really like to see them improved in order for me to be totally happy. That said, it's miles ahead of a lot of the other options out there.

Not coming from an accountancy background I found their system intuitive to use and a friendly after sales support team for any areas that I needed advice for. I'm never going back to my old spreadsheet way of doing things again, the amount of time it saves more than pays for itself.

I have been using FreeAgent since July 2011 - it's a great all round accounts package and offers good value for money. It does everything (and more) you would expect of a monthly accounts package and the reports section really help keep control of managing the day to day business requirements. I have only had to ask for help a few times and on each instance my queries have been dealt with quickly and professionally. I would have no hesitation in recommending FreeAgent to anyone looking for a management accounts package that is simple to use but also very comprehensive. Thanks Geoff Seed Wynyard Pest Control Limited. ps - the only improvement/enhancement I would like would be a way of incorporating stock as this has to be taken into account separately when looking at monthly profit and loss figures.

We love freeagent. It fulfills all of our needs in regards to invoicing and accounting. The projects module is perfect for a small company that works on a project basis. We have been using it for about a year and it's a great tool we use for purchasing decisions and to gage the overall financial health of our organization. There are a couple of things where I could see some improvements: 1. Bank Feeds: there needs to be more banks added. While having the ability to upload statements is nice, it is still a hassle to have to do it every month. We pride ourselves in being a small local Chicago company and we use a local bank for all of our banking needs. It would be great if our bank would have an automatic bank feed. 2. Estimated Taxes: Having the ability to keep all of my accounting in one software is ideal. When it comes to paying estimated taxes, there are products out there that help you with your schedule C. Freeagent has all our accounting info and should have this feature built in.

New clients need to be aware there is a learning curve, though this is probably no more time than they currently invest in a month on their current manual system. The big benefits are the time saved every month and better control of business finances happen thereafter.

Absolutely love FreeAgent! As a new company it's been an invaluable tool in helping us keep track of our finances and everything we need to do for taxes - something which we knew nothing about when setting up the company. It's great that they're constantly developing the platform and new features frequently get rolled out to make everything that little bit easier to use. Definitely great value for money and a product we wouldn't hesitate in recommending!

I have been using Free Agent for about 6 months. I run a micro business, few transactions but as a limited company. Many years ago I used to have Quickbooks which I thought was fantastic even though it had American labels. This is not as good but Quickbooks is no longer fantastic so I went for this. If you know something about accounts and keeping books Free Agent is frustrating at first as it hides everything from the Front End. It does require some investment in time at the beginning. Effectively it works off your bank account. I link a Paypal account and my HBBC statements to it which works quite well. The invoicing is good and the expenses is also good. I can never find anything in the search so I just type my question into Google including Free Agent in the question and I usually get the right page in Free Agent. I have used it to file my own corp tax as mine is very straightforward and it seems fine. It was recommended to me by a freelancer but I know some accountants don't like it - something to do with not being able to print out certain figures etc for the year end work.?? No idea what they mean.
