I've had my heat pump installed for about 2 years now and initially had some minor problems but they were soon sorted by James at EPC. The install was very swift despite being not an easy one and the installers were very tidy and did a neat job lagging and hiding the extra pipes needed. I've been over the moon with my decision to both install a heat pump and to have chosen EPC to do the install. Over the winter period the whole house is warm and cosy without costing me a fortune. Mark from EPC has just completed an annual service for me, it's good value for money if you pay by monthly installments, he did a great job explaining what he was doing and why. Mark also went over and above what I've experienced from British Gas with my old gas boiler in improving things further with advice on insulation of my install, as it's in an unheated garage, he also went outside and put extra insulation in places which is something he didn't have to do but I really do admire his tenacity in wanting my install to be just perfect. I've been talking to and showing my neighbour my install as they want a heat pump as well and I highly recommend EPC to them.

I arranged a service for our heat pump and the appointment was made within days. I asked for the engineer, Mark to call at an approximate time and he arrived as requested. He was friendly and very professional and thorough. He checked and services the heating system and all the radiators to ensure everything was functioning properly. I was pleased with the company's friendly and professional working practices and I will be happy to continue to use their services.

Hi David. It's great to read you were really happy with the recent heat pump service you received from us. We take great pride in not only installing heat pumps but also looking after them. Thanks again.

Have had a poor experience. Communication not great. Had to complain twice. Sent an email last week asking for job to be finished. This and subsequent email has been ignored. They did not come on the day they said and when they came later they couldn’t access the pipes to finish the job. The engineer said he would come back the following week but no one is responding to emails. It’s a shame as much of their work is good but I don’t think they understand how complicated the project is and that they need to be clearer about what is required and stick to their deadlines. If things change they need to explain what access they need and not rely on the small print of an email sent 6 weeks previously. Just because they do this all the time doesn’t mean customers know or can remember every detail.

A truly dreadful experience. What went wrong? Everything but the in-house design (which was okay) was subcontracted so nothing was seemingly EPC's responsibility - someone else. The in-house engineer/plumber was incompetent. The subcontractor installed the heat pump plumbing wrongly, then the commissioning results and commissioning certificate were fiddled to make everything seem okay. The reality was that the heating system was incapable of being commissioned: radiators never exceeded 33C - hopeless. And it took months for EPC to accept responsibility. The PV installation never happened after 7 months and we had to go elsewhere. Then EPC kept the deposit... EPC backed away from their guarantees and in any case we do not want their service as maintainers: we have no confidence in the company. However, EPC was remarkably prompt in collecting the BUS grant, which they keep! Never a hint of an apology... I could say a lot more...

Brilliant service! Air source system was installed in 3 days with little or no disruption. The engineer was very good and explained the system thoroughly. Cleared up after each day so no mess was left very tidy.

The system was not installed as per the contractually agreed design. The design was changed on the fly by the installers who claimed to have never seen the design

Just had our 1-year service by Mark. He was really helpful and knowledgeable, with plenty of good advice about the management of our heat pump. Thanks for an efficient service.

The One Year service was outstanding. The day after our EPCImprovements Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) was switched on we moved into our refurbished house with dozens of things to sort out. The temperature plummeted and it snowed and we had difficulty controlling the heating but not the hot water which has always been excellent. A year later the service engineer not only transformed our ability to control and adjust the heating but took great pains to ensure we understood it and since then the heating has also been just right. There was a part which proved to have a fault which he had replaced by a colleague which made the control just perfect but he kept in touch to check we are happy and responded promptly to the questions we emailed or texted him - we are not gifted IT users generally but are now gifted ASHP users. We've had snow again since his visit and we knew how to handle the outside temperature variations so just admired the pictureque views from inside our warm home. He's even promised to do our next year's service which as his aim is to spend as long (or short) a time as necessary to ensure we are entirely happy is great news.

Service has been excellent. The problem I reported was attended to promptly and efficiently and subsequent queries have been quickly answered. The subsequent problem was resolved by instruction over the phone, so no charge was incurred.

EPC have carried out a very big project as part of a major refurbishment of my house during 2021/22. The contract included solar panels on the roof, the installation of a ground source pump system, underfloor heating plus connecting the house to the aquifer which now supplies my house with all its water needs. There were teething problem, which is not surprising in any project and especially with one of this size. I found them very willing to go the extra mile to make sure issues are resolved as quickly and successfully as possible. When the main builders were causing problems because they were not in control of this aspect of the contract, EPC would find a way to work around without confronting them, which helped me get the job done. I have just had my first proper winter in the house and as we know, it was a cold one. The heating coped very well indeed! The house was suitably warm all the time. The underfloor heating is Heatmiser which I learned to use. It took me a little while to get my head around it, but I am now very happy with this choice, each room has its own controller and changing the settings is very easy. In particular I want to single out Craig McAlister, one of the directors, who could not have done more to help me. Even in areas during the refurbishment, which had nothing to do with his particular part of the work, he went out of his way to help out. A nicer, more competent and helpful person is difficult to find. Thank you, Craig!

We paid EPCI (EPCImprovements) over £13,000 to instal and start an ASHP (Air Source Heat Pump) in our two bedroom bungalow a year ago. A new gas boiler would have cost a quarter of that but we had the money and wished to help the environment. The hot water has worked very well except for a short period during a cold spell recently when we only had cold water until our son visited and used the controls to guess how to turn it back on. The heating (underfloor on ground floor, radiator in the loft conversion bedroom and two towel rails) has only been somewhat effective on the ground floor and has not worked at all upstairs or on the towel rails except for 4 or 5 not particularly cold days when it randomly came on. We asked the installation engineer to recommend a control system with internet connectivity. He recommended Hive so we bought the hub and other parts. EPCI's director then said Hive is unreliable and if we fitted it he'd not accept responsibility for any problems. He recommended Heat Miser so we paid EPCI an extra £800 to fit that. Their Heatmiser engineer said EPCI would give us the codes to access the internet but EPCI did not. As we were given no instructions at all on how to work the ASHP and only minimal ones on the Heat Miser we have had nine months with no heating in the bedroom and bathrooms and only OKish heating downstairs. All this changed when the EPCI engineer did our annual (12 months after the hot water was switched on) service. He later emailed us instructions on how to operate the ASHP and set it up so we, in our 70s, are very comfortably warm throughout our home and the hot water is always hot and only runs tepid for the latter part of the second bath if the first bath has just been filled. He explained how to use the heat miser thermostats to supplement the settings he's put in the Mitsubishi ASHP so as to keep us warm but enable us to have it only come on if we are away on holiday or during hot summer months if the house temperature falls to 10 degrees C. He explained the Heat Miser thermostat controls did not, unlike the Hive ones we bought on the instal engineer's recommendation, have a hub for internet connection but he showed us how to connect the ASHP to the internet so it gives us information about its operation and we agreed remote control via heat miser added nothing as we now have it set up from our home. Had the EPCI engineers who installed the ASHP and the Heat Miser thermostats done as excellent a job as the service engineer and ensured we had instructions and knew how to operate everything we should have given EPCI five stars but until the latter took ownership of the task there were delays on each part of the installation and waits for responses to emails and calls e.g on the day we moved in when it was snowing and we had a very cold first 2 days and thereafter nothing like as good as we have now. EPCI made a great initial impression and now we are very happy again. A year of unsatisfactory installation and commissioning with no instructions intervened. If you choose EPCI ensure it does all the initial setting up and explaining correctly. We have revised our star rating from 2 to 4 thanks to the excellent way the service engineer has now enabled us to have a warm home. If you choose EPCI tell it you do not want a first very unsatisfactory nine months with money wasted on devices they recommend and then reject and then you should be able to give it five stars.

I would award 5 stars for the initial survey and installation but only 2/3 stars for resolving problems. There was a problem with completing the installation whilst on-site , but it was resolved next day. There has since been problems with the system not functioning correctly. I.E. home going cold. Made appointment for visit, no show ., contacted EPC and on 3 occasions advised I would receive call back which did not happen. Still waiting for call back and problem to be resolved!

EPC supplied and installed a Vaillant Arotherm air source heat pump. Throughout the process, all the EPC people we dealt with were helpful, efficient, and capable. Our initial contact at EPC was patient and sympathetic, and he addressed all our concerns and questions, without putting pressure on us. The project planners were very helpful and, despite being extremely busy, responsive and meticulous (especially in their help concerning some issues with planning permission). Finally, the installer and technical managers were simply brilliant and did their best to make the installation process as stress-free as possible. The end result, the installation and commissioning, is, as far as we can tell, flawless. Thank you.

When I started researching solar panels and battery backup it soon became very clear to me that it was a complicated subject. Things to be considered included the correct size of the system, was my house suitable, what manufactures products to use, the various methods to operate the solar panels, what type of inverter, the size of the battery and of course the price! When I first contacted EPC I was put in touch with Kai and he was crucial in my decision to use EPC. Throughout the initial stages he was always available and patient in answering my many questions about the design of the system. Most importantly he listened to what I wanted the system to do and then recommended solutions accordingly. The actual installation took longer than was planned due to unforeseen problems. However, the problems were all resolved to my satisfaction and the completed work is neat and tidy. The system has now been operating for a month and the data shows that I will be reducing my electricity usage from the grid by a considerable amount. I am very pleased. Will I recommend EPC to others? YES.

Hi Ron, Thanks so much for your review. Much appreciated.

EPC have just installed 7 solar panels -- small beer compared to some! They have been helpful throughout - scaffolding and equipment delivered on time and all workmen efficient and helpful . I'm probably their oldest customer ( 81!) but am looking forward to lots of free electricity. Thankyou EPC.

We've been working with EPC Improvements for the last 6 months on a project which included a 32 panel solar system and a Air Source Heat Pump system for our home. The whole process has been great from start to finish and whilst there have been some road bumps along the way (as there always are in home improvement projects) we have always felt confident with EPC. A couple of stand out points for me have been that there has never been a hard sell (in fact, the total opposite, allowing us to change our minds throughout the process as to what was best and even dropping a couple of things from the project on their recommendation) and the communication throughout, which includes their amazing knowledge and friendliness in answering (a lot of) questions. In addition all of the companies/sub-contractors that EPC work with have been brilliant as well! Credit to everyone they work with. We would highly recommend EPC Improvements for your home project

I've given 5 stars because I could not give 4.5. The whole process of having a Stiebel Eltron heat pump and SolarEdge solar PV installed was, in the end, very successful, and I am 100% delighted with the result and quality of the workmanship but there were a few niggles along the way. Probably the thing I found most difficult to deal with was scheduling and arranging installer visits to coincide with the building modernisation work that was being done at the same time. This allowed the equipment to be fitted into the fabric of the house but I found it very difficult to manage installer appointments that were often delayed or arranged with less than 24 hours notice and the installation was broken down into quite small chunks requiring many installer visits. Synchronising these changing and fragmented visits with all my other site contractors was a nightmare. Of course none of this was helped by the pandemic. However the the system provided for both heat pump and solar is top notch and works flawlessly.
