“Captain and crew were all cheerful, helpful and made us feel relaxed.
The food was excellent as was the entertainment.
The cruise was just the right amount of time to show us all we'd hoped to see of the Gloucester/Sharpness canal and its surrounds.
The cabins were compact but comfortably designed to contain ensuite facilities.
We liked the self-serve coffee, tea and fruit available all day, the books and jigsaws.”
“I was lucky enough to get a cancellation for a six night cruise this summer. The experience was wonderful Because I am getting older I find fitting in a lot of things in one day on a bus trip too tiring so the cruising with one outing each day was ideal. I would also like to say how well organised the outings were. Either a taxi or bus to take one to the main attraction meant we could enjoy the visit without being worn out getting there. The guided tours were also well done but there was also flexibility if you wanted to do your own thing. The food was excellent and the staff were so obliging over people with dietary problems. Far more helpful than many five star hotels, It is a holiday I would recommend to anybody though the age group tended to be slightly older that teenage or youngsters. I certainly had a wonderful time”
“This was an entirely different holiday for us having been on several river cruises in Europe. After getting used to our cosy cabin we found the cruise relaxing with a variety of interesting places to visit. The food was good and we found the crew helpful. The evening entertainment on board was also good. The captain added a new dimension to quizzes! The quoits competition provided us with great amusement even though we came last (someone had to lose). We enjoyed the company of all our fellow passengers.”
“Together with a friend,I experienced your Severn Heritage Tour in July '17. What a super time we had. The Edward Elgar is a beautiful boat & its facilities are more than adequate. The meals were excellent & it was no trouble for alternatives to be provided if requested. The tours ashore were well organised & of particular interest to us as we are not overly familiar with the area. Without a doubt though, the highest praise must go to the captain & crew, their service ethos was second to none & it was so refreshing to find a young crew with such positive attitudes to their jobs, again nothing was too much trouble. I would heartily recommend the cruise to anyone wishing to see the Severn & its surroundings looking out from the river. Thank you English River Cruises.”

“"Having done 2 river cruises in Europe we were surprised at how much we enjoyed visiting Worcester and Upton upon Severn. Not being very mobile I found the mixture of sailing and tours ideal and particularly appreciated the taxi ride to Slimbridge I couldn`t have walked there and gone round the wetlands. All the crew were wonderful and their versatility amazed us, one minute steering the boat, next waiting on or helping to moor, and such a happy bunch!. We could tell that the boat was purpose built and admired the space saving yet roomy design of our cabin. I must add our praise to the chef for the very appetizing meals produced in such a small galley, he kindly allowed me to look round it.”
