“Quality chicken coop and run. Would buy from here again”

“We purchased the Kingston Fox proof chicken coop for our new rabbit. Paid for Saturday delivery and received a phone call immediately after placing order to advise us that it would arrive before 12 on the Saturday. It arrived at 10am on the Saturday in two large boxes. The instructions enclosed where very vague and small print so a little unclear, and resulted in us having to unscrew several times during the build as we had gone wrong! However once the coop was built it really is a lovely spacious (7ft ) space for our rabbit. We consider this a good value hutch/coop for its size as many rabbit hutches of similar design but smaller run space cost double what this coop cost even with Saturday delivery included in cost.”

“Bought a Betty henhouse from Eggshell. Response was extremely quick (approx 20 mins from placing the order online to getting a call to ask if they could deliver the next day!). All parts were received, including a spare of each of the different screw sizes. Instructions were a little unclear in places but a bit of trial and error quickly sorted things. Would recommend this company.”

“Very easy to navigate website! bought coop online Wednesday morning, within 30/40 mins got a phone call confirming that I would recive the coop next day between 9am - 5pm. Coop arrived on Thurday as promised at about Lunch time. Took me about 1.5hours to assemble on my own! Great coop, Great build quality!!! Very happy with the coop (as are the chickens) and at their price it felt like a steal!!! Would recommend to one and all.”

“Well made , all the parts and screws and fixings were there in the right quantity . Delivery was quick well within the 3-5 days I had chosen . Well designed , screws not staples holding it together in the ready assembled parts . Well off the ground ,carry handles , ventilation grilles, great litter tray . All in all I cannot fault it . Iceing on the cake was the unbeliveable prices of the products, I would recommend this company to anyone , with confidence.”

“I agree with many others. Great looking product but quite cheap quality that is unlikely to last as long as we would hope. Product was easy to assemble but again like others found that one lot of screws were too short for the job Overall not a bad product for the price but you do get what you pay for”

“I purchased a "Lodge". I suggest that unless you want to buy a hen house every year, that you look elsewhere. A little more money spent now, will pay dividends in longevity. I purchased this hen house as a temporary quarantine house for four ex-batt hens, and will hereafter use it as a hospital area - indoors! The good points - it is of adequate size for four birds, particularly if they are still roosting on the floor. The lugs help a great deal when constructing the house. The bad points Nothing about this building inspires me to think it suitable housing for birds over a winter. The walls and the roof are just too thin. It did survive 4 weeks of Scottish "Summer" - but hereafter will be used undercover. The timber used was bone dry - put it outside and doors warp, stick, jam and fixings no longer meet. Screws come in random quantities, the main screws were long, slender and too few (I replaced them all with brass screws). The roof hinges are situated on the edge of wood so thin that it bends in use. The hinged roof needs a method of locking it down, or a scrabbling fox will get in. After some sleepless nights, I screwed mine down. The directions instruct that the nest box floor is to be screwed in - this would render proper cleaning and control of red mite impossible. To be fair, I think the mistake is in the instructions, not the design, which is clearly for the floor to be loose. On the subject of control of red mite, some of the ends of the nest box look as if they were snapped, rather than sawn - fragmented timber provides ideal mite lodgings. The nest box roof is designed to be hinged; compared to a properly fitted removable roof. this greatly limits access to the nest box for cleaning. Drafts - all around, particularly from around the nest box, which fits the hole poorly, the main door....... and drafts are not good for chickens. Ventilation - not enough! I would advise owners to drill some holes high in the gable opposite the ventilation grill. The perches are too close together and too small for medium size birds. I cut them up to use as draft stoppers. Buyer, beware.”

“I bought a Betty a short while ago.Initial impression good, quite well made and good design. Eggshell claim on their website that the houses are foxproof - they are not! I went out one morning a couple of weeks ago to let the hens out and found all dead inside the house. The metal floor had been ripped off from one corner and the fox had gone into the house. The fixings for the metal floor are flimsy, small wooden beads fixed with short panel pins. The wide wooden struts supporting the metal sheet had simply been bitten off. The metal is very thin and my fox had no problem in puncturing it with its teeth and then tearing it off. I do realise that a determined fox will have a serious go at any structure but I do think that the floor arrangement of the Betty is a weak bit of design. So far all I've had from Eggshell is sympathy but no real advice or suggestions as to how to make a strong, fox proof floor. Be warned!”

Well packed, easy to assemble ( took two of us 1hr.) instructions clear and easy to follow and every single screw slotted into place beautifully. Very pleased with quality and good price. “Product very good but paid far too much over the top 119.00 pound every other site we paid 174.00 when spoke to a person he told me it went in the sale the morning I rung up did not think it was a good reason I think I was just coned will never use this site again Once again chicken coop good quality”

“While the henhouse is attractive and functional now it has been put together with ad hoc changes to make things fit, it seems this particular product is a triumph of style over substance. My very experienced handyman and I had trouble all day with missing parts and screws, unfinished roof parts not cut correctly so they could not possibly fit together as a whole ( had to have the extra bit actually sawn off) and entrance ladder with struts glued to the wrong side and the somewhat confused and very small pictoral diagrams which were very difficult to read and decipher. The floor tray (runners missing) had to be screwed on as there was no other way to hold it in place. The entire building experience became a bit of a trial and quite irritating, when some small attention to detail at the production end could have prevented all the aggravation. Kind regards Mrs A. “Brought my first coop from eggshell (the Gertrude). Very pleased, much better than I expected from the price. Needed a second small one for some new additions, shopped around and the best for me was again from eggshell, the Betty. Very happy with the second coop from them as well and especially pleased that it was delivered so quickly.”
