The teaching methods were very user friendly, plenty of resources offered throughout the course, and the tutors were very responsive, and offered very good guidance whenever needed. Virtual workshops were very useful, and having access to the recordings was a great help, because I was able to watch, re-watch areas I struggled with during the completion of the assignments. “I had an amazing experience when I did my AET with CTC and the complete opposite when doing my CAVA (however, this is perhaps reflected in the course being cheaper than most). Too many issues to list them all, but many could be easily resolved. Here are a few of them: in-platform messaging switched off with no notice; no explanation about who an expert witness could be or the fact that they had to provide their quals; only paper-based evidence and no video recordings for assessment evidence (despite the fact that CAVA prides itself on meeting the needs of different learning and assessment styles - this doesn't apply to the CAVA students though! etc etc). The info was always forthcoming eventually, but only after I found out that I needed it, had contacted admin, my tutor etc. Such a missed opportunity for an offer that could be so much better. A truly frustrating experience.”

We’re really pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with your AET, and we’re sorry that your CAVA journey felt frustrating. That’s clearly not the experience we want any learner to have.
To address a few of the points you’ve raised:
The in-platform messaging system was switched off some time ago as it wasn’t functioning effectively and was often mistaken for an instant messaging service. We replaced this with a dedicated course email address, which is listed within the online learning platform, but we fully accept that this change should have been communicated more clearly.
Information around expert witnesses, evidence requirements, and assessment expectations is available within the platform and is also covered during the 1:1 induction sessions offered at the start of the course. However, your feedback highlights that this information isn’t always as visible or accessible as it should be without prompting.
We’re already working on improvements, including clearer guidance, better onboarding, and the introduction of practical workshops for the units, specifically to help learners better understand how to succeed in assessments and evidence building.

“I am very disappointed not to be given opportunity to finish my L5 Diploma, even though it is within CTC's power to do this, they chose not too i checked with The AO.
I have been very unwell and in hospital for months, I am out of pocket for around £1500 and still receiving invoices for extended access.”

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review of your experience.
Whilst we are sorry to hear you were unable to complete your level 5 DET, we've since investigated this internally to understand what happened here, and wanted to take this chance to come back to you on some of the points you have raised in your review.
You originally enrolled on the diploma course in 2020, purchasing 12 months' access to the course. To help support you in completing this course, we gave you multiple free extensions until 2024, after which we advised that you would need to pay for these, as all learners do.
None of the payments were ever made for this extension. Over an 18-month period, we gave constant reminders that your support would end for the DET, and we would not be offering an extension beyond this. Due to the large amount of time between signing up for the course and submitting the initial work, the assessments are no longer valid as they are not current.
It is not possible that you have received invoices after July, as this product was disabled.
We wish you had got in touch earlier to resolve these issues so that we could help support you in getting this qualification, but unfortunately, this did not happen.
