So far our experience has been excellent. It was easy to book our stay and comforting to have our booking confirmed not only by you, but also immediately by the hotel. As our stay will be celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary I can only hope that this promising start is a good omen.

I was confused about finding a hotel that could offer me a two-night dinner, B&B option in Scotland for our 30th anniversary. I ended up resorting to using the Country Hotel Breaks online chat function and I was assisted by Julie. She sent me several options and within an hour we had booked our break.

I did have to make several attempts to make the booking online. The booking page shows the number of nights chosen, a calendar with green tips on some dates, and a prominent red box saying "Check availability". I assumed that the green tips in the top left-hand corner of some dates were those that were available, so was confused. Maybe I missed the instruction to choose a start date, but my attention had not been drawn to that request. Perhaps it needs more prominence and the red box less.

Good selection, but many come with things that I don't want which makes it more expensive than booking independently. I booked a hotel to find that I could not use money left on my voucher towards dinner. Money left on my voucher is wasted.

Although the service I had from everyone I was in contact with, was excellent, the fact that as a single person I had to go through the support team is unacceptable in my opinion. Packages and room availability should cater for the single traveller as well as for couples. Having said that, they did all they could to eventually find me suitable accommodation in the Cotswolds, my area of preference.

As this was a gift for my wife's 65 birthday,we were bitterly disappointed. The hotel and our room were faultless. The meal however,was worse than awful. We ordered our complimentary cocktails and after waiting an hour were told that they were on the way. I was given the wrong starter so my wife had to eat hers without me. We then waited over an hour for our mains which were adequate at best. We then waited 30 minutes for our dessert which they said was on the house. As I had paid £88 towards the meal this was no help at all. As I had asked for a fine dining experience,I was bitterly disappointed.
