Don't use this company, they sell you services for highly rated people and then substitute driver with one that has a very low rating. It was nightmare to cancel my service as I needed reliable driver for delivery of fragile items. Also after telling company that they are breaching UK regulations for services they providing (sending lower rated driver, when I have payed premium price for a highly rated one), they agreed to refund, but never actually did, money was not refunded, I had to chase them again after weeks.

Worst customer service. Do not use. The driver was 2 hours late and we almost missed the closing time of the storage facility we were dropping things off to. I brought everything down outside my apartment so he didn’t have to do any of that. He charged me extra to ride in the van with him. He charged me extra for two stops which I had already paid for through the website: the customer service Denys this but I know as it was 50 extra for the extra stop. The guy moving was a nice guy but the company is run so bad, wish I had read these reviews before booking

Please avoid this company at all cost! We have had to pay additional costs on the day of the move in addition to massive delays on the day of the move. Customer service is non-existent and you cannot contact the company via phone (they can call you - but there is no contact number for you to contact them - which become especially convenient when the driver is late and you need to get an update ). I am "trying" to obtain their complaints procedure - but the company appear to be ignoring this. Which is baffling. As a back story. We have booked a removal van 12 days before the day of the move. On the day of the move and 15 minutes before the arrival time of the van we received a call from Man in Van letting us know the driver had not "responded to their email" and they haven't been able to reach them. Why it has taken 12 days for them to check this? We are not certain. We were told that Van will arrive by Noon - yet the driver arrived 13:15pm. Once the drivers arrived, they had not received any information about the move, including whether there are stairs/lift involved with the move (which we included on the website). As a result of this, we had to pay additional money to have the job completed. Long story short. We do not recommend using this company and either use a different comparison website or arrange removal directly with the van driver. We are in the process of complaining and I will update the review over the course of the procedure. Booking ID: LrTNzVpVHy7zAsbh Update: 24/05/2023. The company has reached out (in what appears to be a panic response to the review) and has made a refund for overpayments that we have made. They have not yet shown any accountability or failure on their part or compensation which is clearly owed to us - given the breach of their own terms of conditions. They now appear to be ignoring our recent correspondence. If they respond further, we will let you know.

Literally the worst experience of my life. I booked a van with a driver and a helper a month in advance and paid the full amount as well. The confirmed my booking as well. On the scheduled day they couldn’t find any driver to help me, they didn’t compensate me, they rescheduled the time and cancelled again. I had to move everything with my own hands and take 2-4 Ubers ! They didn’t care at all. Most useless and pathetic company. They are scammers !

Don’t book with this company they are absolutely useless and take NO responsibility for anything goes wrong! Booked the removal van with rating 10 they changed it to the company with rating 8 and had a very bad experience! Driver was 50mins late, one of the helpers absolutely stunk of alcohol! The driver was very rude. They damaged my ceiling, my sofa and the lawn. I contacted the company - no reply. Contacted “Compare the Man and Van” - no help whatsoever! They take no responsibilities no anything and tell you to contact the company and like I said they wouldn’t reply! Do not waste your time with them. There’re better companies on the market.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE Had read the negative reviews but thought I would give them a try anyway. Booked to move a single piece of furniture - price was expensive but it was vital that this piece was moved ASAP so went ahead. Before paying it is made to seem like your booking, time, date etc, is 100% guaranteed - IT IS NOT. Only after you pay does the booking system mention that your booking is preliminary and needs to be confirmed, driver found etc. Immediately phoned customer service to query this as it seemed a bit dodgy, they had my money but I had no guarantee of the job being carried out as and when I needed it done. While on the phone the job was assigned to a driver, coincidence... 10 minutes later and the driver cancelled! This was far too an uncertain way to go about booking a £250 delivery, I can't allow my business to be dictated like this. A sort of semi-booking that has been fully paid for, which is then liable to be changed on the whim of a 3rd party driver. So amateur. I immediately called customer service back to request a refund. Was told that while I was on the phone another driver had been assigned to the job. I explained that I could not rely on this unreliable system and I would like to cancel the booking (bearing in mind the booking had only been paid approximately 11 minutes beforehand!). Was told that as a driver had been found (apparently) if I wanted to cancel as it was within 24hours of the date of the collection I would not receive a refund at all as it was too short notice! 11 minutes after I had boooked! I asked for a more senior member of staff to call me back. Same worker called me back saying a manager was unavailable but that he himself had made a mistake and that I would be charged a £30 fee to cancel the booking. Not very happy about it but I know how slippery these terrible companies can be but did request he escalate the matter to his manager as it had only been 11 minutes since I booked and paid. Received another call back saying that a manager was unavailable but that he had clarified the situation with management and he had in fact made another mistake. The fee to cancel the booking was either £30 or 30% of the total cost, whichever was more! So it would cost me £85+ to cancel the booking that existed for less than 15minutes and had cost them absolutely nothing at all. I would understand if the driver had driven to a job that was cancelled, or had accepted this job and in doing so had lost the opportunity to then do another job- but nothing of the sort happened as it had only been a matter of minutes. Absolutely outrageous. A deliberately dubious booking system that makes it seem that the job/date/time you have selected is set. A host of unknown 3rd party drivers who can cancel allegedly confirmed jobs without reason. A customer service team who are in a 3rd party call centre and are not directly employed by the company or even in the same building as the 'management'. Just terrible, absolutely no need to steal £85 from me just before Christmas. Shame on them. Believe the other negative reviews. PLEASE, just pay £20 more and use a bigger more well known company, not these clowns.

Changed my driver. Then they arrived an hour late, I was fine with it, then they arrived looked around LIED and said they will come back and no problem for the job. They never came back, robbed my money, no customer service number to call to enquire about it. BULLSHITTERS. Don’t trust them

The booking was confirmed for 6am this morning at 162 The Parade Leamington Spa. I was at the property to meet the Driver at 6am as we needed to do a removal from the property before the Reynolds Blinds Showroom opened at 9am. I waited until 6.09 and the driver had not arrived. I sent him a text message to which I received no response. I then followed this with a call at 6:12 and 6:14 to which I left a voicemail. At 6:28 I received a call from the driver who informed me they would not attend the booking until 8am as it was too early for him, reluctantly I accepted this change as it was of high importance that this is done today and although it would disrupt the operation of the business, he had left me with no other option but to continue. The driver then arrived at 8.04 and inspected the fabrics that we had booked to move and explained that he does not feel the Van he has brought with him would be sufficient to transport the goods. He explained that his collegue would come to replace him with a larger van and would arrive by 8:30. Again I accepted this change as it is of paramount importance that the stock is moved today. I then messaged the driver again at 8:57 to inform him that his college had still not arrived, I had no response. I called at 9:34 to which I was told by the driver he would follow up with his colleague and let me know what is going on, I then had no call back. I messaged again 9:50 and 10:02 for an update, again to be ignored. Following this I put an enquiry through your website to which you state you will respond within the next 10 minutes; its has now been 2 hours and I am yet to receive any correspondence. Please can someone from your organisation give me a call as it is now 12:03 and we have no idea if a driver is coming, or a replacement is being sent. This is our first experience using your service and so far, it is not only disappointing but has caused a great deal of inconvenience to our business which may now lead to us incurring costs due to the incompetence of your associates. I look forward to hearing from you and hope that Compare the Man & Van will prioritise this as it is critical to our business. Regards Stefan Wesley

BEWARE: YOUR CHOSEN DRIVER CAN BE CHANGED BY THE COMPANY WITH NO OPTION FOR REFUND IF NOT REQUESTED WITHIN 1 HOUR. I booked with a driver I had experience with through the website and had been awesome. Two hours later at 11pm at night I received an email to say the driver had been changed to another with a lower rating and star level. I was asleep at this time so emailed the next day to say I do not want this driver and would prefer to cancel and get a refund. They refused this and said I had a 1hour cooling off period. I had the option to either cancel and loose >£150 or be forced to use the services of someone I did not agree to, involving them coming into my home when I'm alone, know where I live and what I own. This feels like I've been put in a horrible situation and basically robbed. The driver may be absolutely brilliant, but the fact that I have paid for a service but have had zero say in it is absolutely disgusting. What is the point of giving us an option to choose a driver based on our own experience and ratings if they can just be changed at any point?

DO NOT BOOK THIS COMPANY EVER! Honestly please see the below opinions and save yourself so much trouble. The driver never showed up, I tried contacting him multiple times but the phone was completely off. There is no contact with the company itself either. I have emailed both parties, no response. I am now working with my bank, had to proceed with a fraud claim and fingers crossed I get my money back. Over 200 GBP for a small van! I managed to find an honest driver on Gumtree for £140 with a LARGE van for the same job. I am so incredibly upset that I got tricked like this. Lesson for the future. Please beware.

I paid £157.43 to this company they did not do my removal at all I told them there was one flight of stairs and I needed help from the van driver when I received a confirmation they said I do not need help from the van driver and there are no stairs I cancelled this straightaway and I’ve since been emailing them to get my money back and they have not responded to me they only responded through to me by Trust pilot because of the review I left on there-they’ve taken my money and not bothered about me this is a scam and it is stealing I’m still fighting to get my money back they called me yesterday when the review went up and now I’m going to post reviews everywhere I want my money back and I told you that I’m going to fight this it’s not your money you did not deliver the service and the confirmation was wrong you phoned me yesterday and you apologised and you said you understood the situation and that you will be give me a full refund you said that you sent me an email and you still haven’t sent me an email you call me on some number that I don’t even know and I didn’t even know who I was speaking to I photo shotted everything in regards to the order that was made in the first place and this was the order that I cancelled with the van driver I even asked the van driver if you have a telephone number and they said that you don’t have no telephone number your online chat which mentions 24 seven live chat does not work all your telephone numbers do not work and it seems that you’re doing this to a lot of people and you need to stop

**WARNING** We used this company for our house move.. nobody turned up on the day and we were unable to reach ANYONE!! Couldn’t reach the driver or the company itself. Seems like the phone lines were intentionally disconnected?? Still haven’t heard back from anyone and they have taken my money! **SCAM**

STAY CLEAR !! This company is happy to take your money but not happy to give it back when you’re dissatisfied I made an order with this company and I said that I wanted help from the driver and I said that there was a flight of stairs when I received the confirmation it said that I don’t need any help from the driver and there are no stairs I’ve tried to get in contact with them 24 hour chat link it does not work I’ve tried the telephone numbers it is out of service there is no one to talk to nothing now I have to go through PayPal to fight to get my money back they are completely useless PLEASE SAVE YOUR MINEY AND STAY WELL CLEAR !!

The company has some very good drivers however due to the non excitant customer service there is now no quality control, in a nut shell their slowing drivers to put in ridiculous quotes eg 2 men for 2.5 hours for £70 once you take of the fuel ULZ C charges you would be earning less then an employed courier, why on earth would you do this. Well to firstly squire the job as in this case the customer and I have to say foolishly chides cheap over reviews. The driver may turn up but has no real incentive as the quote is so low and may well have acquired a better paying job before your booking and drop you like a stone, they can do this with no come back as there is now no admin the idea being that drivers who provide low quotes in order to secure work only to not turn up or refuse to honour the booking details. The website was until ownership changed the best in the U.K. as it was built on the back of customer service. It now literally has none. My final point is this, there are extremely good service providers on the site who have competitive prices with hundreds of 5 star reviews if you chose these drivers you will be very satisfied. If for instance someone has completed 100 jobs but only has say 10 reviews please read between the lines. I’m sorry to have to leave this honest review but watching a perfectly working platform be raped by the corporates is so depressing. Please do youse the 5 star 10/10 provides on the site if you go with the highest reviews you will receive a great service if not take your chances and hope for the best. Should truly be no stars. Driver was late, probably slept between the journey and overcharged by 4 hours. Compare man and van didn’t help and driver knew the bad customer service so took advantage of the situation. Do not trust or use this company if you don’t want to go around chasing terrible customer service helpline for answers. Tried to ring customer service several times to get a resolve for the dispute but no call back, every-time I tried to call the helpline would get the same response that someone will be in touch soon. After hearing that a few times didn’t bother to try again cause that was a dead end. Should have read the reviews online and avoided this company. It’s better to go for another company that are charging slightly more cause this company will scam you to make up the difference.

A big thank you to Mohiuddin and his work partner that helped me move house today. Communication was great, they are both friendly and helpful and made moving house that is always stressful, super fun and enjoyable. If I ever need help moving house in the future, this will be my first option. Once again thank you very much for all your hard work. I am a very pleased customer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We hired a van for 4 hours, with the understanding that the van would be free for the 4 hours, and that we could ask the driver to do two trips at the cost of petrol. The van was an hour late, they were rude and they refused to do 2 trips unless we gave them £125. Even then, they said they had another job to go to so I'm not sure it was ever booked for 4 hours, despite paying for them - they drove off after 1.5 hours. I contacted comparethemanandvan but they basically said I can't claim back unused hours and that I should have booked a stop when I booked the van. This wasn't clear at time of booking and the faqs when I booked stated that it was drivers discretion with petrol money payable for the extra trip, so this is what I'd prepared for. Not helpful at all and now half of our items are at our old house. I'm disabled so carrying heavy items is no longer an option for me sadly, so this has caused stress needlessly and has meant listing larger items we own for sale, to save us hiring again. To top it off, the driver told me they got £135 of the £254 I paid, so this company take a huge commission for booking through them. From now on we will book with companies direct. Would not recommend this service.

AVOID AT ALL COST. Worst customer service I've ever experienced I was waiting for 7 (SEVEN) hours till I finally managed to get something by myself and ask them to refund me. It was absolutely ridiculous how customer service had me going in circles saying the driver was on the way whilst the driver was telling me that he was absolutely full. And would not be able to attend till at least 4 hours after I was waiting 2 already. Seriously, don't do this to yourself, there are other options out there, I'm glad I was not tight
