“In this modern world we live in,a review is everything..so people need to earn money to live..so I’m not going to be responsible for taking food from someone’s mouth..but what i would say is there’s better classic bike shop’s out there..but beware most are just third party dealers..there’s even one charging VAT on postage..”

Hi Robert, Thank you for your review. Your comments and the comments of every customer are important to us, and we take those comments, and any suggestions made, seriously. It is certainly true that most bike shops act to some degree as third party dealers, we all provide a 'service' and part of that service is knowing where to find the part our customers need for their bike. However in our case a significant percentage of the goods that we supply are either made by us, or made for us by a number of sub-contractors located both in the UK and around the world, indeed we have a number of factories that work exclusively for us. This is surely the model of the automotive industry in general - the lights on a BMW are made by Hella, the gearbox by ZF, etc, very few companies make everything that they sell. With regard to the question of VAT on postage, it's possible that you may have misunderstood the rules regarding postage when it is charged as part of a service. In the UK we as consumers benefit from the fact there is no VAT on postage under the Universal Service Obligation. However when postage is applied to the purchase of goods online (or ordered by telephone) it becomes part of the service provided, and VAT has to be paid. So while you may not always see it (because a flat delivery charge is applied) under HMRC VAT Notice 700/24 (first introduced in 2015 and updated in 2022) that charge becomes subject to VAT which has to be paid to HMRC. In the case of goods delivered in the UK by a courier such as DHL or FEDEX these charges are also subject to VAT. Once again, thank you for your comments. “Parts were fine when I received them. Unfortunately one item was out of stock even though it showed in stock when I ordered. I had to contact the dealer to find this out and had to wait for the parts to be sent.”

Regrettably we are not always able to supply the parts ordered. This is often due to the fact that the parts for classic bikes are made in small batches and although we try to keep stock on hand occasionally we have to rely on stock from our suppliers. When we are unable to manufacture or obtain the part in a reasonable timescale we always offer a refund. Thanks again for taking the time to write a review. “I have received the 2nd wheel nut for my 69 bonneville but untill I visit the workshop on Friday I will not know if you have sent the correct size as it looks very much like the 1st one. I will come back to you later this week . Thank you Best Regards Peter Morrell TN380PA”

“Disappointed! I bought two pairs of indicators, I received one pair nicely wrapped and boxed, whilst the other box was torn and missing some of the wrapping. It turned out that one of these indicators had a break in the wiring and the other a blown bulb, so essentially used (and abused) items. Now I have to hold my hand up and say I didnt contact Classic Bike Parts to give them an opportunity to put things right.”

“Supposed to be powder coated but is just painted and rusting at the hinge and clamp section. 1 inch long bolts supplied ok for smaller size frame but needed to be 1 1/4"replaced for my 1 inch frame.”

“Ordered a couple of bits on the Monday, but sadly didn't arrive until the following week on a Tuesday after bank holiday. The whole plan was to fit these over the bank holiday. Disappointed it said they were in stock. Could of ordered else where in time. Nevermind.”
