“I bought 4 pieces from the Rutland Painted Oak range, after pondering for months looking for something I liked. I found this company and the price came in much cheaper than other companies that were selling the exact same thing. Its a lot of money to spend on something you havent seen 'in the flesh', the free delivery was a great touch also! Many helpful emails from the staff in advisng me with sizes, colour etc. All messages were answered. One item had a longer delivery time than the other 3 items, something like 2 months but that didnt bother me as free delivery was offered. Was very pleased when all 4 items turned up on the same day, the 'out of stock' item came first in a small courier van and the other 3 items arrived shortly after in a bigger van. Helpful driver and tackled all the funiture on his own up my very steep drive (he had to leave the van at the bottom of drive). All came assembled and very well packaged. Was dissapointed that one item, the large sideboard was damaged slightly, the paint had kind of split. So quick phone call back to Chiltern and they arranged a new one to come out to me within 2 weeks, which was fine, these things happen. I packaged up the faulty one, left outside for them to collect when they dropped my new one off. New one was perfect with no problems. All in all from start to finish, Chiltern really have been a great company to deal with in every aspect. There was a problem, they fixed it right away. Very happy and my new living room furniture looks lovely. I will definetely use this company again. I'm not one that usually leaves reviews but felt this service was outsatnding. Well done. 4star just to reflect the damaged item.”

“I have had the worst experience with chiltern oak. I would not recommend the company to anyone nor will I be ordering from them again. To begin with I ordered an ‘in stock’ table which took 4 weeks to arrive. The first delivery attempted to be delivered at 5:45am on a Wednesday morning. Because of this ridiculous delivery slot I missed the table, I organised a re-delivery which finally arrived two weeks later. From ordering the ‘in stock’ table were not at 6 weeks delivery time. As I go to assemble the table myself and my partner realise there a huge cracks in the wood and the pieces of wood haven’t been fixed together properly. We had to cut the wood and buy wood glue to enable one piece joining piece to fit within the other. Screws were also missing. This table was also an extending table and in transit all the ball baring had fallen out making the table unusable. I processed the return straight away, I sent pictures as requested and it was agreed the table would be picked up as soon as possible. A delivery date was booked 2.5 weeks after the return was processed. I work in production so unfortunately couldn’t be in for the scheduled delivery time. I rang up four days in advance to let chiltern oak know. The customer service team hasn’t let the courier service team know that this pick up had been schedule so at 10am two guys were banging on my door waiting to collect the table- neighbourhoods had to send them away. We are now a week into me trying to get a different pick up time. I have called twice- spoken to two different customer service managers and we’re still no further forward. I’m appalled at how unorganised an inefficient their process and lead times are. From buying the table to when it is likely to be picked up we’re looking at 9-10 weeks! I just hope it doesn’t take 2.5 months to get my money back. Never again”

Hi Sally. I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience shopping with us and clearly the quality of the item you've received isn't as you would expect. Checking back through our records, it seems as though we attempted to deliver the item 9 working days after the order was placed, but this delivery failed. A request was then made by you for a delivery date on W/C 19th July which we were able to facilitate (on 20th). There has then been some issues with arranging the collection which were absolutely our fault and we must hold our hands up to that, however when a collection was scheduled, the Drivers were turned away as you were using the Table. Another Collection has now been scheduled. I've listened to some calls and it doesn't appear that you have spoken to any Managers here although they would be happy to speak to you if you have any questions at this point or would like to speak to them. Apologies again for any inconveniences caused. Kind regards, Chiltern Oak Furniture.

“Great looking piece of furniture, really happy with the colour and size, only negative is that the paint appears to chip off easily, caught one of the legs with the vacuum cleaner which unfortunately chipped off a small piece of paint”

“I purchased the Industrial Grey Studded Back Bench and Corner Bench for my new home office. Next day delivery was fine and I got notified about when to expect it and they were on time. Great when it this is all included (aka. free). With so many stores closed during lockdown, I have purchased many things online without trying them and have been disappointed, especially with furniture. Not this though. Assembly is only required for the legs, the seat and back come fully assembled, you just have to attach the legs. It is here when you realise the quality of the furniture. The legs are rigid steel, definitely not flimsy, which was a concern as I weigh 130 kg. The actual bolts used seem quite sturdy and will last a long time. I think that the material used is real leather, but I cannot find anything confirming that. The bench is really comfortable, and is something firm enough for me to have a nap on it. I am writing this review because I think that the quality of it needs to be understood. I would definately recommend this bench.”

“Customer services very poor. Delivery date was not provided so we had no idea when the 2 triple Hampshire wardrobes would arrive and we weren’t prepared when they arrived quite unexpectedly. Also had problem when trying to assemble since, due to a misalignment of wood stay by 2mm, the floor would not, and could not, slide in to place. When mentioned to customer service that the wardrobe could not be built and required a replacement side panel they offered no resolution advising that no exchange was possible. I might also add that the wardrobe was described as requiring “some assembly” but it arrived as a flat-pack with 30x bolts and 19x screws and had to be assembled fully. Not a problem in itself except when, due to poor manufacture, you can’t assemble it without serious re-work.”

“Already have the M&S Padstow range and the NEXT Malvern range. Chiltern Oak Salisbury range which I bought for the conservatory is very light and flimsy. Although cheaper than M&S and NEXT (not by much) the quality and build are VASTLY inferior. Did not bother returning the units (who does that!) because they won't be used often and M&S was out of stock anyway.”

“Only recently opened the delivery of sideboard, due to redecorating. We found one of the doors wouldn't close properly. The shelves were tough to touch. It wasn't a solid oak top.It was an engineered top. We were very disappointed with it as thought it was poorly finished and not worth the money.”

“White Chester nest of tables. I am now happy having returned the 'Grey' which was (Truffle) more beige than grey as stated in title. Good quality only loses 1 star as I thought the smaller table would slide in a grove under the larger, but it just sits under, so ok. Overall would recommend. Delivery excellent (24 hrs) but collection for returns took 12 days. It was free though so minor niggle. Helpful staff.”

“I ordered two wooden bedside tables and they were both delivered on time and in good condition. Very well packed, and already assembled. They look nice and are of great quality for the price. Real wood rather than MDF. Doors do not slide that smoothly but works fine since I don't open and close them too often”
