“The newspaper which I received wasn't the one I hoped for. If only I could have seen a thumbnail of the front page I would have known and been able to buy the correct edition. This could have been one day either side of the edition I purchased.”

“This is an excellent gift for people born in the UK but now living overseas. I was given a copy of the paper published the day I was born on my 70th birthday and I have now done the same for my sister. A wonderful unique gift.”

“Newspaper was a 60th birthday gift to be sent abroad. Communications with Bygone News were superb in terms of despatch at the UK end but was a little let down at the receiving end. Though this was no fault of Bygone News, it was a little disappointing that it took longer than anticipated to arrive at the other end.”

Dear Jo, Sorry to hear you weren't completely happy with your 1943 Daily Express. Both during the Second World War and well into the 1950’s, all newsprint was strictly rationed and produced mainly from recycled materials. The wartime blockade by U boats and enemy warships added to the dire shortage of paper. Therefore your wartime paper is both fragile and precious and, being from such historical times well worth careful handling and preservation.
