“I was told at the beginning of November that I was eligible for the American work program. I spent two months saving madly, selling my possessions, making plans to export my dog, looking at apartments. But the day I was set to pay the remaining $1800 fee, I stopped, and queried the order of the next steps, as two had been swapped around since I had my interview. Then I'm asked to provide the same information that was on the website I sent to the Operations Coordinator on the first day we discussed it, two months earlier. Suddenly, I wasn't eligible for the program. Yes, mistakes happen. But only checking if my school was accredited is simply not enough. All the Coordinator needed to do was read one solitary page, with the relevant information to assess if I was eligible (credits/EFTs/hours per week of study/how the course was delivered) included on it. I wasted two entire months working towards a goal I was told I was eligible for, but truthfully never was. The fact I got my non-refundable deposit back should honestly tell you everything! Now, the rest of my family has left for America, while I sit here in NZ on my computer, day after day, applying fruitlessly for work sponsored visa jobs. To say I am DEVASTATED at this outcome is an understatement. My dream has been to go to America for 15+ years, now it may never happen for me. If you've read to the end, thank you. Now, go and make sure you yourself are actually eligible for your program, before you pay any money to BUNAC!”

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and we are sorry that your experience with BUNAC wasn’t as positive as you’d anticipated. As our Grad USA program does have very specific eligibility criteria, we have a two-step eligibility process in place with our sponsor. This ensures that none of our participants reach the stage where they attend their consulate appointment and have their visa application rejected. You were advised three weeks before you submitted your application that only after our sponsor reviewed and accepted your supporting documents, would you be formally accepted onto the program. Until then, we were only able to accept your application based on the information that we had at the time. Due to Covid requirement's, there were some grey areas surrounding the eligibility of online study, and in your case, there was also some ambiguity around study load. Unfortunately, in your specific case, our sponsor was not confident the course criteria were met and as such wasn’t unable to provide you with a certificate of eligibility. Upon receiving this news, we notified you and actioned the refund within 48 hours. We are truly sorry about your current personal circumstances and hope that you are able to find an alternative path to live and work in the USA in the future. - The BUNAC Team

“I booked for November 22 in Auckland and had the best experience ever. Met the best people and Sharyn was the best leader I could've asked for! She was super helpful fun and approachable and helped with literally anything we asked or needed! Am recommending this program to everyone I know!”

“I was part of the Work NZ programme in October 2022; my journey to NZ was absolutely awful due to delayed flights and lost luggage, and I arrived ready to turn around and go back home, but Sharyn was an absolute hero and looked after me right from the start, going out of her way to make sure my delayed arrival in NZ went well and I didn't miss out on anything. I honestly can't thank her enough! I've also made really great friends through the BUNAC groups and love how inclusive the group is, if you ever have a problem, there is always someone who is happy to help :)”

“When I wanted to work at a summer camp in another country at first I was really confused as to how the whole process worked or where to start. After a few research, I found BUNAC, and had my first meeting eith Róisín. She was really kind and has been helping me with all my questions. So to anyone looking for an agency to start working with, this is your sign! They have made me feel nothing but comfortable since the beggining. Can't wait for my first time as a summer camp staff!”

“The team was very helpful when planning to get down to New Zealand. Lots of helpful information and tips through the whole process. Initially arriving in NZ was great as Sharyn Hight was very comforting and welcoming and made everything easy. “Traveling alone to the other end of the world for the first time makes you question a lot. There is a lot of information on the internet, sometimes too much to know where to start. But none of this information will really help you in the first few days like BUNAC, especially Sharyn Hight from the New Zealand project made you feel welcome straight away. All questions were answered, even those that came up later as you keep them as contact person. Furthermore, you meet many who are in the same boat and and that's how many traveling groups were born.”

“I booked the Working Holiday program with BUNAC and was quite unsure if it will meet my needs. But now I can say that is was a very good decision to book with BUNAC. From the beginning of the trip to now enjoying the first adventures here in New Zealand Sharyn helped me with literally every problem occurred. You can mail her or even call her at any time and she will try her best for you. And Lachlan is the guy who has an answer on nearly every question no matter if it's travel tips, accomodation tips or anything else. Really enjoyed the first few days here in NZ with BUNAC.”

“Absolutely great support from Sharyn from the get go, I honestly do not know how that women provides the support she does. She was always there to answer any emails I had before I had arrived in New Zealand, greeted with a hug when we first met face to face and always so nice and polite. Since leaving the 4 day experience at BUNAC, Sharyn has constantly provided support by sending jobs all over the country, recommendations of places to stay and nice messages. The only way I would say BUNAC could improve is more games/ice breakers to start with. I don't think many of us felt that comfortable with each other until day 3/4 which was a shame as we were all leaving soon afterwards. I think the activities needed to be at the beginning or have more activities like games of pool/bowling etc.”

“I was really scared when I first decided to make the move to NZ but the BUNAC team couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. The team before I left were brilliant and answered all of my silly questions without hesitation. When I arrived in New Zealand Sharyn and Lachlan were so helpful and funny and made me feel so much better about this massive decision I had made. Whether it was helping with bank accounts, IRD numbers or looking over my CV they made time for everyone and helped in any way they could. I genuinely don’t think I could have done half of this stuff without their support. I have also met such an amazing bunch of people out here and I hope we will stay in touch whilst we are all here.”
