A few days ago, I paid $29 dollars for a special promotion for my book, and now I have no idea how to make use of this. I thought they were supposed to contact me about starting the promotion, but nothing. Is this whole business a scam, I wonder?

Hi Claire, We are def not a scam! Your email from us may be in your spam folder. What you can do now is email me the book you want included in our Summer sampler. A link to the Amazon page will get us started. lob@yourasms.com is the email address. I would great;y appreciate if you could comment again here that you have heard from us. It will be a while before the Summer Sampler is ready, so please don't panic. We are working on putting the right books together. Laurence O'Bryan - BooksGoSocial.com

Shortly after joining BooksGoSocial.com they did a twitter blitz for my latest book. Two weeks later I had a sale on this book. The numbers were staggering, the best sales I've ever had on that book.

the targeting audience is skewed : its no different than an individual spamming the heck out of Twitter to all possible accounts & accounts thereof hoping that one may look at it then read the link and buy - doubtful. Twitter goes by so fast that no one can see what goes on unless its accompanied by an image that grabs the viewer. with all the XXX rated porn on Twitter a book cover image isn't going to grab anyone & most users of Twitter are kids who can't or won't read. The Kanye West- Miley Cyrus-Justin Beiber brigade. Yes it does generate some clicks on your link (some clicks) but clicks do not equal purchases. with my own promotion on Facebook I can get 100's of clicks which result in about 10-15 % in actual purchases. I bought the premium package - since returned for a refund - @ over $400 its way over the top for no return what so ever. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Craig, We don't guarantee sales. Please remember that it's the public who decide what they like. We do guarantee to give people their money back, which is what we did. We also provided you with a book trailer and advice. You may not value what we did, and I am disappointed we couldn't do better for you, but after all our work you did get your money back. In full. We kept our word. Name me another advertising service which gives money back to people who advertise and aren't happy when people don't buy what they are selling. Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial.com

I'm disappointed in this service. I did not see any increase in sales despite seeing a lot of tweets. I have used other ways to promote my book with much more success and less cost.

Byddi, I am sorry you were disappointed. We genuinely have a lot of happy clients. At any time you want in the future, for this, or another book, we will run your promotion again. I also hope you can consider the other aspects of our service, the emails we send out to readers every month, the Facebook promotions, the genre trailers we promote, free, the advice we give. I hope you will engage with those other aspects of our service and not see this as simply a Twitter promotion, because you will be missing out on a lot if you miss out on these real opportunities to promote your book for 12 months from the day you signed up. I find communications complicated and take too long to understand. I don't have that much time I can spend on social media stuff and ration my time each place. Still your facebook page is one I go out of my way to check.

Great company full of help and always putting the author first. I've received so many new followers not only on Facebook but Twitter. I am still building my platform and this is a great way to start.

In the months I've been with Books Go Social there has been no big increase in book sales but there has been a huge improvement in the quality of my online presence and platform, thanks to expert advice from BGS and from the collaborative professional network enabled by BGS. My new IPPY winning website, my amazon author page, my book pages and my book trailers have all been created or improved thanks to BGS. Traffic to my blog increases X10 when tweeted by BGS. I've even learned how to use twitter myself and to enjoy doing so - a huge change. This has taken time and work on my part so if you want to sit back and watch your books sell, you are likely to be disappointed. What you will get is a lot more than is advertised and not many companies provide that! Yes, there are the promotional tweets for your book and social media networks along with excellent free guides on using them. The organiser is hands-on, personable and responds to queries and requests. But there are also extra promotion opportunities all the time for those (surprisingly few) who take up the offer to be on e.g. genre pinterest boards. Having published and self-published 17 books, I started off with a reasonable knowledge of the publishing business but BGS has helped me understand modern marketing and present my books in a way much more likely to find readers. I am sure that higher sales will follow and I know that for some genres that is easier than for mine. I do use other sites for promotions and will continue to do so but BGS meets my needs to organise my regular online marketing and also to find great books to read - I have been blown away by the quality of books on BGS and the friendships formed with other writers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the service and the people.

Hi, Sorry for the rating. I guess if I had to say why - it would be because I had no idea where my money went. (for promotion) I did see some tweets the first couple weeks my book went out, but beyond that I am unsure of what your service did to promote my book. Thanks for asking.

Marilyn, I am very sorry you were disappointed. We do have extra promotions, which you haven't accessed yet. They are emailed to you every month on the 5th. We need to get your response to that email each month before we can do anything else for you. Did you get our email on the 5th, last week? That may be the problem. I can send it again if you email me: lob@yourasms.com Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial.com

The initial push was pretty great. Tons and tons of tweets that I could RT when I wanted. But I believe this is presented as a yearlong subscription and I don't really see what they can do for me beyond that. I've asked about a couple of things but they don't seem to result in any kind of opportunity.

Lia, I am sorry you are disappointed. We do have long term promotions, which I hope you can take advantage of. The two that may interest you are, your book in an email to our reader list, once a month, if your ebook is under $5 and has 5 reviews on Amazon with an average of 3.5. Plus, extra Tweets for blog posts about your book, if it's written in a readable style. We provide guides to that, which are intended to help you find readers by meeting these requirements. Please email me if you want to get involved in these. Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial lob@yourasms.com

I feel that I am not taking advantage of all of Books Go Social's marketing resources because I don't understand how to use them all. There seems like there are a lot of great tools to use but also a lot of rules. For example, I can only advertise my books on the day that corresponds to the first letter of my name. Well, I write with a pen name. So do I use my actual name or my pen name? If I use the wrong one, will it be taken down? Also, there are rules about how many reviews, etc. I have to have in order to include my book in the newsletter. Well, if this is a paid service, why should that matter? I feel like further explanation of all of the benefits with less emphasis on rules and regulations would be better. I do appreciate the fact that I got a lot of blog traffic from having my blog tweeted--but it didn't help me sell any books (maybe that's on my end.) I have not seen any significant jump in sales since I started using Books Go Social. I do enjoy the Facebook community.

ID, I am sorry you are disappointed. We have so many members, your book would get lost if everyone posted it in our Facebook Reader group every day. Please use whatever name you use on Facebook to decide which day to post. Regarding the requirement to have 5 reviews, with an average of 3.5 to get into the emails every month, this is intended to nudge you towards improving your Amazon page. Simple put, if any author has less than that they are unlikely to sell many books. Our intention is, yes, to push you to take steps that will help your book sell. Have you joined our Facebook Author group? Many of our members are helping others with reviews and getting reviews back in return. Click or copy this link and paste it into your search bar to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/booksgosocialauthors/ Please email me if you have any questions. And please, don't give up on what we can provide. Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial lob@yourasms.com

I purchased a basic deal that consisted of BooksGoSocial sending out Twitter announcements from the day my Kindle edition was published. I liked the wording, the volume of tweets seemed high enough and well spaced, and I believe they prompted a spike in sales. Seeing this activity gave me confidence in this form of promotion and encouraged me to make use of Twitter in a more inventive and consistent way myself. I also found the ongoing advice from BooksGoSocial is realistic, friendly, nicely backed up by their Facebook initiatives, and inspiring overall. I've learned from the experience and, although I haven't seen massive sales yet, it gives me hope and new ideas for the future.

My book is a Science book (physics). Books Go Social does not have much expertise to help promote such a book.

Mark, I am sorry you were disappointed. We do email you every month on the 5th with a list of suggestions for you to get extra free promotions from us each month. We need you to fill in the forms in those emails to tell us what you want us to promote each month. I am offering my email here: lob@yourasms.com if you haven't been receiving our emails on the 5th. I will send it to you myself. You may need to whitelist us, or check your SPAM folder on the 5th. I am sorry you were disappointed, but I think you will see that we are determined to provide value and we will keep trying to contact you so you take up our offers for free extra promotion each month.
