“We, 4 women, had a very nice vacation. For 1 week we have had an experience for life. With all the explanation ( instructionfilms and 2 hours in the marina) we managed to do everything and enjoy our trip. We would love to do it again”

We wholeheartedly recommend Black Prince Holidays to anyone seeking a remarkable holiday on the water. Whether we were cruising through the countryside, passing through quaint villages, mooring up for the night in Birmingham, or navigating impressive locks, the ever-changing scenery was amazing. But it was not just the captivating vistas that made this journey remarkable; it was the people we encountered along the way. Black Prince Holidays' team was exceptional, displaying genuine warmth and professionalism. From the moment we arrived, their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction were evident. They patiently guided us through the intricacies of navigating the narrowboat, providing us with all the necessary information and making sure we felt confident in our journey. The local community along the Stourport Ring also left an indelible mark on our journey. The friendly locals all greeted us with a smile and a pint. They all were happy to share fascinating stories and their pride in the area's history. From the idyllic Worcestershire countryside with its rolling hills and meandering rivers to the industrial heritage of the Black Country, each stretch of the canal offered a unique perspective on the region's rich tapestry. The architectural marvels of the cathedrals, canal bridges and tunnels, combined with the abundance of wildlife and charming waterside pubs, made every moment an incredible discovery. Passing by the Worcester Cathedral Sunday morning as the bells rang will be a memory we'll never forget. Black Prince Holidays ensured that our narrowboat experience was nothing short of exceptional. The meticulously maintained and fully equipped vessel provided a comfortable and cozy retreat after a day of exploration. With all the necessary amenities at hand, including a well-appointed kitchen and a comfortable sleeping area, we felt right at home throughout our journey. Our journey with Black Prince Holidays on the Stourport Ring was an amazing experience that exceeded all expectations. They were even incredibly kind enough to send my glasses to me after I mistakenly left them on board. “Actually nothing is wrong with Black Prince because we are unable to use your wonderful service because of our four small Yorkshire Terriers. We believe all the fantastic reviews that you’re Company receives about your excellent service and would be privileged to be part of it. Our dogs are clean and well trained,and we always bring our own bedding and blankets to protect your property. We are also very happy to have to pay for our dogs because if they were put in to kennels it would cost us money anyway. But as our dogs are our family we will not ever kennel them. If you can reconsider our dogs we would be happy to give you some business. The one star is not a bad review it was the only way to get a message over to you.”

“Black Prince offer luxury on the canals. Easy to operate, well maintained, reliable and comfortable boats. First class instruction before we set out. We loved every moment. Upon our return we encountered personal problems ,( phone left in taxi) and the Black Prince family bent over backwards to help reunite us with our phone. A special thankyou to Paul Archer. Such a great experience. Five stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“We were visiting from Philadelphia, it was our first narrowboat hire (we had learned about the canals after watching Cruising the Cut). We had a fantastic trip. Can't wait to go on another narrowboat excursion in the future, and we will definitely use Black Prince again! Boat was exactly as pictured, we loved cruising the Llangollen canal!”

“We have been having holidays every year since 1987, twice some years, with Black Prince. We have just completed a very enjoyable three weeks from Wigrams Turn - our 39th trip with them. We have found all the staff, both office and base, to be very friendly and helpful. The boats are excellent - extremely comfortable and well equipped. We find our holidays on the canals to be very relaxing - even working the locks is great fun! We would thoroughly recommend a narrowboat holiday.”

“A big thank you to the really friendly and helpful staff at Wigrams Turn. From start to finish the assistance we had from Black Prince and Lauren was first class. I am happy to say that was reflected when we arrived at Wigrams Turn! Alan Neil and Kieran were particularly helpful and and got us away on our trip with all the info and with minimum fuss. Can't thank you enough for a fabulous week on a comfy and well equipped narrowboat. I will definitely book with you again!”

“We have an annual 'family' holiday with Black Prince. It is the most wonderful way to spend time with each other (three generations!!). Hopefully we will have many more but I'm sure even when we are less active, our children and grandchildren will still gather for an annual canal boat holiday!”

“If I could give Black Prince more than 5 stars I would. The boat was IMMACULATE! I was a little worried it would have that musty damp smell a lot of boats have but it was fresh as a daisy! Very well appointed kitchenette. Bathroom worked great for us. Beds were comfortable. We had never been on a narrowboat before but our host Danny made it so easy to learn how to drive. He is incredibly knowledgeable and a great teacher. His focus was making sure we were set up for a successful and FUN trip. His recommendations were great, especially to remember this type of holiday is about slowing down and enjoying the world around you - not powering it out to a destination. I can’t wait to return for another adventure. Totally worth the flight from the USA.”

“In October 2022 we took our first trip on a narrowboat in the UK. We have been renting houseboats and yachts on the canals in France and on the lakes in Germany for many years and love this kind of holiday very much. We were a little curious about the design and handling of narrowboats. Surprisingly, we got used to this long and narrow boat very quickly. It is very comfortable - especially with the well-functioning central heating in the chilly October - and the bathroom and kitchen are also very well equipped. The bed is cosy and warm. The steering of the boat is very intuitive and the rudder movement is pleasantly more direct than on the houseboats and yachts on the mainland. However, the daily handling of the technology is a bit more time-consuming: the shaft has to be lubricated, the coolant checked and refilled if necessary and, above all, the propeller has to be cleared of grass and other objects through the hatch. Fortunately, we had stocked up on warm and waterproof clothing before the trip. So neither heavy rain nor cold could bother us at the rudder. The trip on the Union Canal between Falkirk and Edinburgh (there and back) was very scenic and we are eager to see more cruising areas. So we will continue our experience on narrow ships in the UK.
