About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. “I needed a bag for my Mamiya 7 kit, and this fits the bill perfectly. I can easily carry the camera body, with a lens attached, as well as a few other lenses and a flash. And the build quality is exactly what you would expect from billingham - superb!”

“Like many photographers, I have a very large collection of camera bags from a host of manufacturers. None are as well made as my Billingham bag. It's nearly 20 years old now but only seems to get better with age. It's comfortable to carry, holds all the gear I need for a day's work and I trust it to be robust and reliable. There are plenty of reviews which concentrate on the good quality material and excellent workmanship but the thing I really celebrate is the complete and very welcome absence of the dreaded Velcro!”

“The bags are great. I've owned several over the past thirty years and am never without at least two. I currently own four, I use them for everything, almost on a daily basis. HOWEVER the 'detachable strap' design is arguably the achilles heel, at least for me. The strap is designed to be tightened, but also for quick release. If you have a fixed load in the bag, then your strap is set with the buckle and the open/close is with the quick release. If load size changes, however - which it does with me - then I open and close with the buckle, which leads to the inevitable losing of the strap, which is just plain annoying. I have lost all six of the straps over the past couple of years, and now have to shell out for replacements, at a fair old price. I know this is a small issue, and given the real problems of the world utterly irrelevant - but you did ask for a review.”

“Best bag ever. My 1st outing with my bag was a 12 hour car race. It rained most of the race. My new Nikon Z6 camera and lens stayed dry, for the entire race. I just did a quick wipe of the camera and lens, before putting them away and everything stayed dry. My 2 friends were not as lucky, their bags were wet on the inside. The Hadley Pro was just the right size and was very comfortable to carry for the 12 hours. I did buy the shoulder pad, well worth the money. The people at Billingham were very helpful and worked with me the get the right bag. The bags are not cheap, but to get something now days, that will last a lifetime, the price, value can’t be beat. Treat yourself to the best.”

“I ordered the Hadley One with a matching name tag and shoulder pad. The service was personal and extremely fast. I was impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship, true English tradition at its best. The weight is extremely light which makes it practical for daily use.”

“The Hadley one has indeed served me well. On a recent trip to Oxford, there was a sudden torrential downpour and I was soaked and so was the Hadley one. The interior of the bag was remarkably dry and my camera and lens were untouched by rain. There is a tendency to overpack as the bag is more capacious than it seems externally. It has drawn glances and admiring remarks during my travels and I can only say the bag does indeed exude a sense of style and dependability. As I use a mirrorless system and usually only carry either a single extra lens I have been considering the Hadley small or something to that effect. The Hadley one certainly instills confidence that it will be durable and accompany me in my future travels. And it probably will undoubtably look better the longer I use it. A small mention towards the service and team behind the bags. There were very efficient and are indeed craftsman of a certain stature. Thank you.”

“Excellent portfolio (sorry for the pun) of bags and accessories in different sizes. Materials and craftmanship that fits a mind of long lasting relations with both people and items. The cost of purchase only hurts once, while the joy of owning and the low demand for replacing, lasts for decades. Glad to see that my trusted 335 still is possible to purchase, should need arise.”
