Disappointing all round. Delivery time not met. When delivered, frozen item defrosted. Would not recommend.

The products are very good as far as I can tell (have only tried gildas so far) but I was completely shocked by how this was packaged and won't be ordering again. There were 6 layers of single use freezer packs. I'd love to buy from you again if you use a supermarket delivery model but I dont think delivering in this way makes any sense from an environmental PoV.

Thank you for your review - We always strive to ensure that orders are delivered in the best condition especially when dispatching fresh and frozen products. All of our packing materials can be recycled and our Ice packs re-used. I will of course pass on your feedback to our warehouse manager. The meat is good meat as always. The delivery was on time and packaging was good. My disappointment was Basco's response to a problem. I weighed the meat in sealed plastic and my home scales registered 1.84kg including teh packaging for a claimmed 2kg joint. The joint cost £72. My scales could be incorrect but I did measure 2 litres (2kg) water and found the scales may be slightly over-reading. For information I was told weights include packaging and if on the web site you 'read more' you will find that weights can have a 'slight variation'. An appology was only given when requested by me, for me slight (maybe 8-10%) is not slight and packaging is not normally included in weight. A calculation was mde to refund approx £5 and an offer of a £15 voucher instead. Delivery charges makes a voucher worthless for me. It literally leaves a bad taste and disappointment since I am unlikely to buy more.

Good afternoon Richard, We appreciate your frustration and as a family family-operated business we do care about our valued customers and ultimately take it very seriously when there is an error or issue to recertify. If I can address the discrepancy of the pork being incorrectly weighed at source, we identified there was a small batch affected and quarantined accordingly, however, I am sorry that you were one of the clients affected with you being £4.96 out of pocket and in good faith my team gave you £15 as a gesture of goodwill. Ordered a whole suckling pig for my husband's birthday. The service from BASCO was very friendly and helpful. I have had suckling pigs many times, though never cooked one myself. I have high expectations with my order as it's comes from a good supplier. Unfortunately, every one was really disappointed. The pig was lacked of the the beautiful sweet pork taste, nothing to do with good cooking or bad cooking (I was a chef). It was the meat itself, it was actually tasteless, if one closed their eyes you wouldn't know what meat you are eating. I am sure I was just unlucky. Maybe I will give it another try next time.

Whilst the food looks good, packaging and delivery all fine. Zero customer service, called twice left message no response. Used the online chat, no answer. Email no answer. Shame.

I’ve ordered from Basco several times & been pleased with the quality of the goods but their customer service is poor. If something goes wrong, they are not prepared to properly resolve. My last order had 2 expensive joints of beef that were materially underweight. The order also went to the wrong address which we had to track down & spent 2 hours driving to retrieve. The address details were pre populated by their system and were correct in terms of the street address & village name. What I didn’t spot is that the postcode was wrong but as there is only one village in the UK with this name, I had no reason to check the postcode. Apparently it’s my fault as they are not liable for their system error as per their T&Cs! Mistakes happen but it’s how they are resolved that counts. Will not use them again.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave this review. We do on every occasion try to find the most appropriate resolution to any issue. In regards to delivery addresses, Basco do not retain or input any part of a delivery address for any orders placed online. We are of course sympathetic to errors made with delivery address at check out and we do try and limit these errors by sending an order confirmation and an email notification of dispatch. We will always do what we can to help resolve situations such as this, however once an order has left our warehouse we are extremely limited to what we can action. The “frozen” squid arrived defrosted and leaking from the packaging so I was not able to use them.
