2nd time I ventured into York to shop in Barnitts and left the products I intended to buy because of poor service, a young man filling shelves obviously thought I was in his way while I was choosing and twice reached in front of me to put stock out, no 2m distance, then I waited for 10 minutes at one till (in garden area) to no avail so moved back to kitchenware and waited 7 minutes by which time no staff who were busy doing other things made eye contact and said they would get to me when they can, no just ignored me so I left, I didn't want to be an internet shopper but it seems to be the way forward😡

Order out of stock- had to prompt them as to why it had not been despatched. Then they refunded with no apology.

I am not at all impressed with the service I received from Barnitts. Firstly my order was delivered incorrectly. I contacted customer service who offered to send a replacement. However I have only received half of it. I contacted them again but seem to be ignoring my messages. I definitely would not order from them again. All in all a very poor shopping experience.

How can you justify charging £14.99 to post to the Scottish Islands Royal Mail,DPD,Hermes and all good companies charge around £5 to deliver there.

Well I’m still waiting they say they can’t deliver item understand that but where’s my refund they say their offices closed can’t do that either

Waited 15 mins, in the hardware department, to be served. No one there and no one in the middle section either. There was, however, knifes and scissors left unattended. This I was shocked by, as anyone could have use these as weapons, either in the shop, or on the street.

Website said items in stock so ordered them, then told not in stock and will be another 7-10 days. Communication about delivery very poor. Then asked for a review about my order before I've even received it .................. enough said.

Bought 5 items at price match and given a refund. (it takes 4 days) They say at amazon you have to spend £20.00 to get them at £0.90 each but sainsburys and others all charge £0.90 This is another company that takes your money and you have to chase them its not a price match and no guarantee. Dont buy big items as you will be left short and will have to wait till they decide if they will match it.

Dear Ian, We are sorry that we could not price match on this occasion. Unfortunately we cannot price match sites that require a minimum order value as the item price is not a fair representation of the total cost. We are not sure why the refund would take 4 days, we cancelled and issued the refund with 24 hours of receiving your price match request. The refund through PayPal should be instant, but unfortunately we have no control over how long this will take.

I wish I could leave a less than 1 star review. I recently placed an order using "Price Comparsion", although I could get the item cheaper elsewhere, I decided to place the order with Barnitts using PC as my mum is already a Barnitts customer. Barnitts then cancelled the order, 24 hours after placing (delivery was also expected that day), and on the original site it was now out of stock. Do not use the "price comparison" tool, as it not reliable, and items can also be found cheaper elsewhere. I did also send a complaint to Customer Services, which they have choosen to ignore. They have now lost both a loyal customer and a potential customer.

We are sorry that we could not price match on the item you ordered, we checked the comparison site shortly after the enquiry was made and the item was out of stock on their site. Unfortunately we cannot offer a price match on out of stock products, this is stated in our price match terms and conditions. The item would have been sent out within 3-4 working days as stated on the product page. We apologise that you have not received a response to your email. We usually aim reply within 24 hours, although during busy periods this may be longer.

Nobody ever picks up the phone on their internet sales line - really bad - left 4 messages. So if you needto discuss a query with your order, you cant ever get to speak to someone. Don't use their interent sales service.

This review is only about the delivery aspect: the delivery man refused to deliver my 1.8 m long and heavy wood picnic table into my backyard (which can be accessed through a dedicate lane at the back of the property connecting with the street where the delivery truck can be parked). As a result I had to deal with the table which was fully packaged into a wooden pallet (also heavy as hell) delivered at the front of the house. So...why the pallet ? I did not buy a pallet, just a table..Why the inflexibility ? A picnic table goes obviously to the garden, not to the leaving room...Pretty disappointed.. Daniel.

Purchased white vinegar/bin bags/toilet bowl tabs, the three men behind till did not stop talking to each other and did not even pass a single word of acknowledgement towards me. Put goods in my rucksack and started to leave store when I could smell vinegar, I opened bag and realised the container was leaking. I returned to the till and emptied the contents with receipt, where I was told to go to the other department, but I paid for them here I minute ago, sorry you have to go to the other department. Got to other department and joined the que, eventually I put the products on the counter when lady started to scan, I explained to her my dilemma where she growled at me as if I had done something wrong, she eventually asked me what she should do, where I said I had come into town for the products, she confirmed there was a fault and replaced with new, I have now returned home still stinking of vinegar and my bag ruined. The customer service by a large variety of staff was close to shocking, I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with Barnits.

Delivery time and delivery cost excellent. Sadly lampshade slightly damaged but my complaint was answered very quickly and promised to be replaced when in stock.

Barnitts website made no mention whatsoever of even the possibility of needing felt padding under the new ironing board cover and when one tries to search for it "felt padding for ironing boards" produces a "no products found" response. The old Brabantia ironing board covers came with a thin layer of foam inside but not these newest ones - just thin cotton cloth. When I queried this situation I received the most unhelpful response from "Barnitts" (no name was forthcoming on either of the two emails) and frankly if this is the "normal" customer response then we will not be bothering Barnitts in future. If Paul Thompson would like us to forward the emails in question then we are happy to do so - maybe he can take some action to ensure that such responses to customer queries are more in keeping with how he (and any self-respecting MD) would want Barnitts to be portrayed let alone the umteenth generation of the "barnitts Family"

Dear Mr Jones We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your replacement Ironing Board Cover. These products do not come with felt padding included as this is not always needed when replacing the fabric cover. If you need felt padding you would need to order it separately. We are dedicated to providing quality customer service and this is something we will be looking into.
