after waiting over 10 days for my item it arrived damaged, these things happen and an exchange was arranged for the following week for which I scheduled a day off work (Wednesday), the day before delivery I was informed that the item couldn't be delivered until the following day (Thursday), I emailed to say that this would be no use as there would be nobody at home for the exchange and suggested Saturday I have been informed your courier doesn't deliver on a Saturday? and as yet nobody has been in contact since to arrange a suitable date for exchange. Having placed the order online I expect to stay in all day waiting for the delivery, having to do this three times is very inconvenient..

Ordered some gloves online on 2nd December. Immediately received an email informing me they were out of stock for 2 weeks. Why didn't the website indicate this when the order was placed? Had to chase the gloves after 2 weeks to get them sent out when re-stocked. Arrived damaged, on Christmas Eve. Sent an email to ask how to go about exchanging them. No reply. Had to go into store in person to get a refund. Love Barnitts as a shop but will not use online ordering again!

The bench itself is ok fpr the price, however it is missing the bolt caps.

Two out of three items ordered were out of stock this should have been indicated on the website. The items were over packaged leaving a lot of disposable waste. I didn't like the greyish colour of the washing basket that is meant to be white. I would shop in store in future.

Draining board matt real does save my draining board from scratches and nasty marks . The laundry bag is very well designed and a good quality fabric .long lasting and I love it ,and one of the most useful ones I have ever had . The bone shaped biscuit cutter I struggled to buy from all local shops but .barnitts had one all arrived very well packaged and I highly recommend their on line shopping and the products they sell Mrs Joyce featherstone

It would have been nice if you had kept us informed with the progress of our order and the fact that it had arrived with you with damaged packaging. We would probably been able to receive it over 2 weeks earlier. Even so I was surprised that I had to ask about the progress nearly 3 weeks after its suggested delivery date.

I was very disappointed to have to wait so long for my order. When it eventually came the bread bin was damaged. I emailed Barnitts. Whilst I had a very polite and helpful reply, it seemed they had no more in stock and I have to yet wait again. What a good job it is for myself and not a gift that was required for a special time. I had ordered my ironing board cover In February and didn't receive it until April. I was sent an email to say that this particular was out of stock and it should be in stock again in March, however

I e mailed an order to you for 1 five bulb centre light and 1 wall light, the following day I amended my order to 1 five bulb centre light and 2 wall lights. A couple of days later 1 parcel arrived, the following day another parcel arrived at which point I called your advice centre to confirm what order had been sent as I am in the middle of decorating and didn't want to open either box until I am ready to hang the lights. I was reassured by one of your staff that only the amended order of 1 five bulb centre light and 2 wall lights had been sent and that is what I would be charged for. On receiving a statement from my bank on Saturday I was surprised to find that I had been charged for both orders at which point I opened both parcels to find that both orders had been delivered to me. I naturally called your advice centre again to have one of the parcels collected and returned to you. I am hoping that my account will not be overdrawn and that I will not have bank charges to pay. I feel that under the circumstances that your firm should pay any bank charges that may come my way as I feel I am not to blame about the two orders that were sent to me. I feel at the present time that I would not recommend your e mail service to anyone else and that they should only buy anything directly from your store.

Only chose Barnitts on 13th Jan because most other sources were saying item (a garden fork) was out of stock, only to receive an email later to advise that the item was out of stock and would not be arriving untill around the 27th Jan. When it came into stock, I received a series of emails detailing the delivery which went very smoothly on the 3rd and 4th of February. Unfortunately the item was slightly sub standard, a badge nailed to the wooden handle had been poorly applied and had lifted the grain of the wood creating a sharp edge which would catch your hand in use. This is fixable and not worth returning the item for, but overall a big dissappointment as the fork was a birthday present for my mother.

Dualit Mixer arrived with blades missing, I contacted customer care and they dispatched the parts by second class post, ummmm, not sure that really qualifies as customer care! Shame really because the product is good.

Item was broken when I received it so was sent straight back. Although it was packed in bubblewrap the item was placed in a box and then in a larger box which had no packing round it. Although the carrier company will be blamed for the breakage I think it was Barnitts fault, they should have placed packing round the second box so it wasn't rattling artound. However I did get a prompt refund of my money

Delivery was very frustrating - took longer than expected so first came after the end of my holiday when I was back at work. I rebooked for an alternative date and took time off work to receive but it didn't arrive, turning up instead the following day (when I was at work). I rebooked the delivery again for next Tuesday and arranged for more time off work and then was pleasantly surprised today to get a message saying that the delivery had been left with my neighbour. Really inconvenient for someone with a job to do...

Item ordered on th 13 Dec as a xmas gift still not received and no correspondance with explanation of delay. Very disappointed as i had no xmas gift for this person and am out of pocket pleases deal with this asap.

The fact my delivery arrived within the week was I think very lucky and actually down to the fact the parcel could be left with a neighbour. The poorer standard of service than I thought I could have expected from Barnitts (which is a York gem), started with the website, where I could find no information about delivery times, or expectations. Had the parcel not been left with my neighbour I would not have known in advance where to collect from. If the courier had been Royal Mail it would have been easy for me. But what I really wanted, was to click & collect from the store (Acomb or town) but this was not an option. Please improve the website, it's lacking a lot in giving Customer Confidence compared to most sites these days. Bring yourselves up to the standards us York folk are used to expecting from the otherwise excellent Barnitts. The package itself is a Christmas gift.

As a di8sabled person every penny counts & buying a three light ceiling lamp proved to be a lot of hassle and added money I could not afford! Had to get light replaced twice & in the end they stopped doing the particular light so had to pick another. The first light was faulty and had to be sent back. The second light we paid the electrician to put up and only used it a few times and it became faulty! Electrician had to take down light, wait until we picked a different light then fit new light! In total it cost me £50 to get this light fitted and removed & I think due to the amount of hassle we have had over these faults then Barnnets should have paid towards the cost of the electrician, have spent many hundreds in their shop in past & feel let down by the poor customer relations!

The major problem was that the item was not in stock and I had to wait at least 4 weeks and then had to prompt you to send it. It came the next day which was a good ending!
