“The table is very lightweight with lots of rough edges and holes in. A crack appeared in the table shortly after it arrived that we have contacted Barker and Stonehouse about but they said that’s just the design of the table and can happen. The wood is stained a very dark colour but not evenly and it has a very cheap look to it. Food crumbs gather in the holes. The chairs and bench are ok but there are sharp bits on the bench too so it’s not great if you have children using it. We expected much better quality, this table and the experience when we made contact about the crack has put me off ordering from B and S again.”

“So far, my experience of Barker and Stonehouse has been poor. From receiving a text at 6pm tonight giving no notice saying my delivery would be the next day, to trying to explain to a lady at the end of a phone who was quoting long distance delivery process and that that’s how it works and she wasn’t responsible and finally to an email received yesterday asking how my sofa is and and to review it. I’m guessing at this rate with their ‘processes’, I am destined never to experience it.”

“I went to see the beds in person and then ordered online. The delivery was swift and the bed was put up quickly and efficiently. I love my bed and matching side tables. They are chunky and rustic. I have since rung the shop because I had to dismantle the bed for the carpet fitters. A member of staff knew how to do this, explained what to do and gave reassurance that it was not a difficult task. Great service.”

“Ordered two lamps at the end of November, both were inadequately wrapped and arrived broken. Two more were dispatched, these were also inadequately wrapped and arrived broken, lack of packaging was reported to B&S. I'm still waiting for a replacement order two months later.”

“Bought the Houston leather sofa, seat and foot stool based on the set my cousin has had for a few years. The set was delivered on time, however we noticed that the foot stool was a bit wobbly no matter where we put it. Barker and Stonehouse asked for a video and immediately after viewing it sent out a replacement. Great furniture and great customer service, what’s not to love.”

“Very pleased with the rug, and so glad we measured up when we got back home after visiting the Brighton store, as we required the larger rug than we were going to purchase. The colour and pattern fit in very well with the decor.”

“A bit disappointed that table is not quite as advertised. Even allowing for colour variations when looking at a product online, the wood is a lot darker than anticipated. It is called saddle Tan but there is nothing tan about it. It’s really dark almost black in places. Only the hassle of a return, possible costs attached and the fact that we needed a table prevented us from returning it. That said it is a lovely piece of wood or pieces.. and quite good value for the money. Good size for our kitchen diner and it has grown on us, but do be aware of the colour!”

“Purchased 2 dining chairs - when they were delivered the box was damaged and the velvet on the chairs themselves had been marked. Rang and a replacement was delivered the following week. When the chairs were assembled they wouldn't sit level on the floor and wobbled horrendously. Rang and told a further replacement would be sent the following week and the chairs would be ready assembled so this didn't happen again. Following week the chairs arrived - they were worse than the existing ones we had. Issue was exactly the same which was extremely frustrated. Rang again - this being the 4th replacement for 2 dining chairs, spoke to the Customer Service Supervisor stating how frustrating this was & the fact that the goods weren't being quality checked before they were despatched! Following week a further replacement arrived - 1 is absolutely fine but the other still wobbles slightly but had enough of ringing & complaining. Would have thought that somebody would have called to check to see if we were satisfied but nothing. Very disappointed with the quality of the goods for the price paid & will not be purchasing from Barker & Stonehouse again!!!!”
