“Good firm to deal with and good products - both the clogs and the wonderful lightweight boots, which I just bought. They are ideal for exactly what the name suggests - nipping out to empty the bin, bring in fuel, feed the sheep.... and a dozen other purposes.”

Dear Susan, Thank you for your valued stars - We hope we can ask you to review and give us the extra 1 to make it five when you sprinkle some talcum powder on the underside of the insoles. - it’s rare and immediately resolved with talcum powder. “The Backdoor shoes arrived promptly and as with a previous pair are very comfortable and I frequently find my self gardening in them! For a perfect fit I also ordered two pairs of insoles. The left feet had gone walk about but a quick phone call and they very soon arrived along with some more right feet friends!”

“Over 5 weeks since order placed, still not received my package and no response from Backdoor shoes to my emails either…. And money been taken also, I will be looking for a refund, if I can contact them! UPDATE on this review, Backdoor shoes have made contact and apologised and issued a full refund. The package has got lost enroute which is of no fault of Backsoor shoes.”

Good morning , We value feedback and aim always for 5 stars so it’s obviously frustrating to receive less. We’re very sorry your parcel has not arrived - it was sent promptly after your order on a tracked service. It is rare for a parcel to get lost. I can see by the email trail that the first contact we had from you was on 26th October and Katy responded to you on 28th and we are waiting for response from the courier. It’s likely it is lost and of course if that is the case you will be refunded. When we’re back in the office on Monday 4th November we will make contact with you again to resolve. We know it’s frustrating when a parcel gets lost and we do react straight away when these rare events happen. Kind regards Stephen

“Love these Backdoorshoes - I have had several pairs over the years and I needed a new ones so ordered the chicken design which were great. True to size and so handy. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars this time is that they are really squeaky for some reason!”

Hi Lynne, Thank you for your 4 stars and here’s a simple fix for the 5th one if it works and we know it will! Just a little talcum powder under each insole will resolve your squeak. Sorry to give you a task and happy you love the chickens. Occasionally we have to give our shoes a little TLC.. You know you can wash insoles in the washing machine at 30 degrees every now and then. We see that your order was discounted and you did pay the discounted price on this occasion. The regular price is £34.95 and you paid £28.95 Please consider that for any order under £29.95 we have a postage and packaging charge of £3.95 Maybe this is why you thought the discount was not applied. A good plan is to add insoles or perhaps a pair or two of bamboo socks to tip the value into the free shipping deal. We hope this helps and would love to get the extra star. “I’ve had a pair of these garden crocks for many years and they’re still going strong but I wanted another pair for indoor use. There was a minor problem with the insoles squeaking but it was swiftly resolved. I would be happy to buy these again”

“i am generally very pleased with my shoes, they are comfortable and easy to get on and off. However, i am concerned that they squeak when walking, i don't remember this happening with my previous pair, which were of your ealier design.”

“Bought as a present-receiver's review. Early days to assess longevity. Sturdy, like the thick , studded sole. Very close fit despite being one size up from standard shoes size. (might like to review sizing). Small lip at heel prevents slippage*like it! Apt design for my usage.olourful. All in all a good option for doing "what it says on the tin" Cannot comment on value as bought as a present.”

“Generally comfortable. Tight around big toe area. Will hopefully loosen with wear. Worn sock free your feet get very hot as no ventilation holes in upper. Nice patterns and good grip on sole.”

Thank you for your 4* review - We’d like to make it 5 and we have good news. Our shoes are made from a unique material which can be warmed with a hairdryer for 1-2 minutes on hot from 15cm and then moulded to accommodate your big toe. We do it all the time for those with lumps / bumps , bunions or a longer toe. In summer a good tip is to wear a thin bamboo sock which will keep feet cooler. In winter they are cosy and insulate on cold stone floors etc . We hope this helps Kind regards Stephen

“Delivered promptly. Garden clogs fit well although right rubs a bit on 3rd toe: socks resolve this. They keep the worst of the wet off. Gravel creeps in but generally a good buy.”

Good news is that if you use a hairdryer on hot at 15cm away for around 45 seconds on the toe area you’ll be able to mould our clever material away from your third toe. Put your hand inside and push hard with your fingers . Material will cool and set to your shape. We hope you might consider giving us the extra * after you’ve had the success.
