“Helpful staff but the sizing recommendations are way off! They are not true to size, as the website says. Much bigger! I had to return my order and pay the postage.”

Dear Celia, Thank you for your review -we value feedback and have good news for you - All our clogs are made from closed cell eva and can be heated with a hairdryer to stretch the width. There is some info on the website and we can give you a call or you can call us if you need help with the process to stretch. We have many customers with wider feet who have done this and have given 5 stars so we hope you may consider trying again and giving us the extra stars . Thank you for your valued feedback - As with any purchase every customer is free to choose what they buy and where they buy it. We are proudly more expensive than mass produced Garden Centre clogs that are not the same as original Backdoorshoes in design, quality, orthotic profile or material durability. We are more than happy to offer a full refund so you can buy something cheaper from your local Garden Centre providing they are in new condition.

“We have each had several pairs of Backdoor shoes over the years. I ordered a new pair for my husband recently and the design and size are good but THEY SQUEAK!! Very annoying!”

Dear Mrs Dennis - Jones , We are always here to help - literally every step of the way. We do get an occasional squeaky shoe which is very simply resolved by putting some talcum powder under the insoles. It’s an instant fix. We aim for 5* and as you will see from our reviews we’re doing pretty well. I can’t se that you’ve tried to contact us anywhere or by any means which is a shame. Please consider trying the talc and perhaps upgrading us to 5* If you need any more help please refer to our FAQs on the website or email us or call us .. We really are here to help. “I loved my first pair of size 5 Backdoor shoes and they have lasted for ages. I recently ordered a new pair on the internet, again size 5, but they do seem to be bigger and a slightly different shape to my first pair. I will probably order some insoles and hope that will make them more comfortable. Christine Harris”

Hello Christine, Thank you for your review and we’re sorry to see that we didn’t make our usual 5star rating. We always aim for a 5 * and 95% of the time that’s what we get. We have been making backdoorshoes in the same mould for around 17 years . There is slight variation as far as size is concerned when we use different sole colours . “Lovely website easy to use however I take a ladies size 8 ( 42) so had to order the mens garden shoe in a EU size 9 (43) but these were soo small couldn't get them on very disappointed”

Hello Wendy , Thank you for your valued feedback - We would of course like 5 stars and always aim to get everything correct to make all our customers happy. So far we’ve done pretty well as you’ll see from our ratings . We’re sorry you are not satisfied. Sizing information is we hope very clear on the website - A ladies 8 is a size 41 . We appreciate that some manufacturers say it’s a 42 . Men’s sizing is completely different so whilst you thought you were doing the right thing by going up to a men’s 43 your would have actually needed to go up to a men’s 44 in order to get one size bigger than the ladies 8 which you didn’t buy which we feel is a generous ladies 8 . “Not as good as my original pair which I had for many years. The new ones although the same size as the old ones are much stiffer and I had to remove the insoles to be able to get them on at all. I am persevering with them but rather disappointed overall. Sorry to tell you this but you did ask for a review.”

Hello Sonia , thank you for the review - Obviously we are disappointed that it wasn’t 5 star like almost all of our reviews . We have been making them for almost 20 years from the same material and they are always a little stiff to begin but become soft very quickly . “I bought my husband a new pair for Christmas. I have given up on them myself as they don't have a decent grip on the soles (ladies sizes) and wear out in 4-6 months of use.”

“The advice on the website was if you are between size, go for the smaller size. I did this and they are a bit too small, but I could be bother to send them back. Wish I did because they are annoying me now.”

“I've just purchased a pair of replacement shoes as my much loved Canvas Blue ones have been pierced by a large thorn and now allow water to come in. So I went for Strawberry Pink Canvas shoes as I know the fit is good. All was well with ordering, payment and delivery and the sale price was good too. No mention in the description that I could see about seconds clearance. Ended up so disappointed in the print quality on the new shoes to suggest the "seams" and "laces". Not a patch on my old shoes and resembling the handiwork of my two year old grandson with a pot of white paint. Little detail showing...more of a mess of thick badly printed and ill defined lines. If I'd picked the shoes up on a trade stand I would have put them back as obvious seconds. Whatever has happened to quality control? Unfortunately I'm going to think twice about purchasing again as the pink shoes are inferior to my much loved old pair.”

“I had to return these thinking that they were made in UK. It turns out they are made in China only designed here. As a matter of principle I won't buy from the Chinese regime for their environmental, animal welfare and human welfare. They seem like nice and light warm cosy clogs though”

Hello Guy, Firstly, thank you for your valued review. We always aim for 5*. We see you ordered from our discontinued sale shoes making quite a saving on the regular prices and you benefitted from free postage. We can assure you that we have customers still wearing shoes just like yours over a decade after they purchased so hope that this will be the case with yours. “I have purchased Backdoorshoes previously and have been always very pleased with them. However, I do think the inner soles could be more cushiony / comfortable. I find my very cheap imitation "Crocs" much more comfortable.”

This adjustment would undoubtedly elevate the comfort and fit, ensuring a more enjoyable and supportive wear. In conclusion, while the clogs' gorgeous print has been a standout feature, I believe addressing the oversized fit by incorporating extra padding would greatly enhance the overall quality and comfort of the product.”
