Had a fantastic 4 days in Iceland. Everything was planned for us and the guides made the most of the time we had. Unfortunately we didn't see the northern lights but that didn't ruin the holiday at all it would have been an extra bonus as we saw so many other beautiful sights. We are definitely going to return again. From the hotel to the organised trips we were looked after and made to feel more than a tourist. Thank you Iceland for all your hospitality.

Excellent trip - all elements of our holiday ran seamlessly. The hotels were great, the scenery was spectacular, the activities were exhilerating, and all the transfers between the airports, hotels, and activities were seamless. Every element of our holiday was accounted for, which made for a totally stress-free time. The drivers and guides were also freiendly and knowledgable, which was a pleasant surprise.

An extremely well-organised trip from start to finish. The Ice hotel was a special experience that we both enjoyed and all the staff were friendly and helpful. But, for us, the time we spent at the Mattarakah lodge was just superb. The overall atmosphere of the place was relaxed and stress free. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for the guests. We enjoyed all of the activities and the guides are to be congratulated for giving us such wonderful, happy memories. We certainly intend looking at what else the company has to offer in the future

My friend Alison and I visited Abisko, Narvik and Tromso with Weekend a la carte. We returned from the holiday last Thursday. Abisko Mountain lodge is fantastic, the food 4 star and they looked after us so well. While we were there we did the wilderness photography experience, husky sledding and snowmobiling. My only criticism is that the route into the park for all 3 were the same, and the wilderness shoot did not go far in. However the photographynsupport from that experience from Dominique stood us in good stead for the rest of the trip and we did see the light that night , great excitement. We had a little issue with a snow mobile but it was dealt with swiftly and appropriately by Mia at the Lodge and we thank her for her help and support, and Kevin was online and supportive. Excellent customer service. The Quality hotel in Narvik is a bit of a hike from the train station in heavy snow so be warned and ask for one of their refurbished rooms.... Out alternative Sami mountain top experience in Narvik with Lars, was the highlight of our holiday, what an absolutely fantastic evening, just the three of us and his singing dog.😃 Tromso is very pretty and the Scanvik a good hotel, ask for a quiet room though. We took the trip to the ski station and the view over Tromso and spent the entire evening watching the lights. Absolutely fantastic. Our coach ride from Narvik to Tromso was surreal, just three of us on the coach with a stop over at the Polar Park, love those wolves, and we have never see so much snow in our lives. An absolutely brilliant unforgettable experience.

It was a wonderful, exciting and exhilarating experience. We can't pick 1 highlight as all the activities on the itenary, the accommodation and the people involved were excellent. We were privileged to be able to drive the huskies ourselves, as others we spoke to at the Lodge had gone elsewhere and had only sat on the sled in groups of 3. The snowmobiling was magical as we went to the top of the mountain where the sun rose and the views were spectacular. The Sumi experience was a real adventure and a great insight into a different way of life. Lovely people. We would do this holiday all over again given the chance. Your advise on clothing was perfect as I never felt the cold at all. We did see the Northern Lights at the Lodge, one night with the naked eye and the next night only through the provided cameras. There was a couple of things that wasn't as expected, but did not spoil the holiday: I was under the impression that the 2 restaurants were inside the Icehotel The BBQ at the Lodge - I was expecting us to be present at the BBQ and eating outside, but the food was cooked outside without us and served in the dining area. Many thanks for looking after us from beginning to end. We did thank each of the people ourselves but please feel free to pass on our thanks again. We are possibly looking at visiting the bottom of Bryce Canyon or the Grand Canyon. We have seen them from the top but fancy experiencing the view from the bottom upwards. Do you deal with this sort of holiday?

The team were very helpful and booking was easy. Everything is taken care of in the price (apart from alcohol) which is great, the Lodge is lovely and staff are fabulous. Everything went to plan and smoothly. We fitted so much in thanks to the planning of the package. Information given pre-holiday was really important in regards to clothing and environment. Outer layer provided by the Lodge was brilliant. Food was very good and we didn't have to spend any extra. When you first think it's expensive, it's not, it's very good value for money considering what you get, the activities, experience and people that 'look after you' - you don't have to do anything other than turn up and enjoy yourself. I was a little disapponted with the room, I booked for 2 of us as a couple and had twin beds - at opposite ends of the room. Beds together or a double would have been nicer. I kept it a secret from my fiance until we got to the boarding gates!!! He was overwhelmed and had a top 50th birthday. Thanks to everyone, it was an experience we'll never forget.

My hubby and I have just returned from a 4 night Iconic Ice Hotel & Abisko Northern Lights Capital Break. The accommodation was lovely, clean, warm and cosy. Everything was really well organised and all the staff at the Ice Hotel and Abisko Mountain Lodge were friendly, helpful and efficient. The tours and the guides were amazing, plus we were so lucky to see the Auroras two nights in a row. We would definitely recommend Weekend a la Carte to all our family and friends.

Fantastic holiday experience! Well organised and got away from the crowds of tourists with a personalised off road tour on one of the days. The guides were very informative and punctual, they called us when the Aurora Borealis came out which was brilliant! The cabin was fantastic, so clean and full of everything you can think of that you would need. Only constructive feedback we have is that even if you are an experienced driver please think about whether you would be comfortable driving in the snow in the dark. This was a scary experience for us and we wished we had a better car higher off of the ground as there were times when we were blind from the snow sweeping down from the mountains. Also some feedback regarding the hotel in Reykjavik. The hotel was lovely but we were awake all night as only single glazed windows with cars driving past every 20 seconds, also you can hear all of the pipes working from other rooms when people were getting up early to go to the airport I'm assuming. Despite this we came home feeling very happy we had booked through Weekend a la carte and definitely had the trip of a lifetime. I will definitely use you again :)

Dear Jade Thank you for your kind review and I'm so pleased you enjoyed the cabin and the super jeep tours so much. I have forwarded your feedback to the hotel in Reykjavik as we have never had that feedback before so I am wondering if it is a particular room that we need to request to avoid in the future. Also thank you for your comments on the car which we will review with Thrifty. Regards Abigail

I had a wonderful experience on the Aurora Nights Weekend a la carte. I recommend this to anybody wanting to see the northern lights and will return to the wonderful Abisko Mountain Lodge.

We travelled to Abisko on 30th December, staying for 3 nights. Our trip exceeded all our expectations! Mina should be very proud of her team at Abisko Mountain Lodge, who looked after us superbly. Whilst our room was small and fairly basic, it was warm, clean and comfortable. The food at the lodge is amazing! Fine dining without the faff. The trips were excellent. To go out into the wilderness for the photo evening on our first evening, and experience the display of the Northern Lights we had was truly magical. Sarah gave us great advice and seems to have a gift for reading the sky and Marianna made sure we were kept warm in the tepee. We were initially disappointed that our snowmobiling trip was moved to the afternoon, meaning it was dark. However the darkness added to the excitement and we saw the Lights again! The New Year's Eve celebrations were lovely. We had a fabulous dinner with wines to compliment the food and the atmosphere was relaxed and cosy. The dog sledding was another highlight with gorgeous, friendly dogs and caring, knowledgable guides. The Ice Hotel. Just WOW! Unfortunately we were told the Sky Station was closed on arrival at the ski lift, due to high winds on the mountain. As we had an early start the next day we chose not to take part in the alternative activity. Our only criticism was the short time allowed for making the connecting flight at Stockholm. Our flight from Gatwick was at least 30 minutes late taking off, resulting in having less than an hour to clear a very slow passport control, dash from one end of the airport to the other and get through security. Thank you for an unforgettable trip to a beautiful part of the world. Karen and Steve Pink

Wow! What an amazing trip - a real bucket list experience. The dog sledding was out of this world, crossing frozen lakes with the sky ablaze with colour. Great to see the high welfare with which the dogs were cared for as well. Snow mobiling was another highlight as was the visit on New Year’s Eve to a Sami village where we learnt about Sami culture around a campfire, made bread ate cakes and drank coffee. We then walked to the “Homestead” where we had a 4 course ala carte meal and then on to the ice hotel for drinks and seeing in the New Year. Mattarakha Northern Lights lodge was cosy and comfortable- very informal, lovely food (lots of reindeer!!). Different to a hotel, more a home from home with comfortable sofas around a fire where you could chat with other guests. All the people we met from the guides to the lovely ladies in the lodge were without exception wonderful, kind and keen to make our stay as good as it could be. The trip didn’t always follow the itinerary given by Weekend ala carte but this was always for the better! Thank you!!

A mixed experience where a number of the "professional" tour guides showed very little interest in making their tour the best experience for their clients. A very expensive 4 nights where a lot covered in this time could have been done on your own inexpensively and better. Avoid the "professional" photo shoot, but if you can, do the dog sledding and snowmobiling. Don't go in early December as there is little or no snow and no Aurora Lights as the skies were not clear nor was it cold enough. Overall a very disappointing time.

Dear Barbara Thank you for taking the time to review your break and i am obviously very disappointed to read your comments as so much of the feedback we get from our clients is overwhelmingly positive. We have shared your feedback with all our partners in Abisko. I think in our defense this December was the most challenging we have experienced in 15 years of doing northern lights holidays to this part of the world due to lack of snow, warmer temperatures and lots of fog coming off Lake Tornetrask. It made delivering the winter activities very challenging indeed plus conditions were far from ideal for aurora watching . I can appreciate that coming all the way from Australia you would have had high expectations and i am sorry that we did not live up to them. We always look to do better with the things we can control but sometimes in extreme parts of the world if nature does not play ball we are slightly put on the back foot. Once again thank you for the review. Kind Regards Kevin Collins Managing Director

Excellent service. Trip we required was a little different to one offered by Weekend a la carte, but Kevin put a package together to suit our needs. Very pleased with the service. Shed load of information provided, knew exactly what was covered and what was not - no hidden extras. Accommodation exactly as described. Very well organised and co-ordinated activities, meals, etc. All ran smoothly. Would book with Weekend a la carte again. Fabulous holiday.

Organised activities were very good, accommodation at Abisko Mountain Lodge was more basic than expected but was functional. The food there was much better than expected and the owners and staff were lovely. The Rival Hotel was undergoing refurbishment and the entrance area was a building site which was disappointing. The bedrooms were smaller than expected. We enjoyed the trip but it was quite expensive give the relatively low standard of accommodation and very basic economy flights

We spent a wonderful New Year Break in Northern Sweden. All of the arrangements worked out as planned and we felt very well looked after. We enjoyed a range of activities - definitely worth up-grading to superior rooms, and also choosing to drive the huskies ourselves, as this was a highlight for us all. We were blessed with an amazing Aurora - but would strongly recommend a good camera for Aurora watching! Thanks for a really special New Year!
