Oh, my, what a wonderful trip from start to finish! We didn’t have to worry about anything, because the guides, starting with Tomas, were where they were supposed to be every time. They updated us on any changes in the plans and delivered us safely to all our destinations. They also shared their knowledge of the area and made an extra effort as when Jurgen took us snowshoeing above the Arctic Circle on our way to the Tree Hotel. On every excursion, from Lars Eriksson and the reindeer to Ylva and dog sledding we were in small groups and the experiences were very personal. We had a chance to talk to our hosts and learn some of their background. We especially enjoyed learning about Ylva’s history and observing the impact of her affection and training methods on her dogs. Such a lovely person and family. The accommodations were about as varied as they could be: • Safari camp, where the owner Fredrik came and greeted us • Tree Hotel where Britta and Kent made us so welcome • Ice Hotel, sleeping in an Ice Suite, and where we first saw the Northern Lights! At the Ice Hotel restaurant the chef, Alex, came out to talk to us and treated us to two amazing desserts. • Abisko Mountain Lodge where Mina and the staff welcomed us so warmly and where the dinners were exceptional. We met others who were traveling along our path and made some great friends. Highly recommend this trip and this company.

Firstly, the team at Abisko Mountain Lodge made us very welcome, all staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. All activities were well run and great fun, although the trip to the Norwegian Fjords wasn't our favourite and had we known what it would be like, we wouldn't have chosen to do this trip - the town wasn't really the picturesque place we thought it would be. The photography session was fantastic and Sarah our guide was brilliant, we got some great pictures of the Auroras. However, we wish we'd ensured we had our own tripod with us for other days, as you can't get sharp pictures of these without one, but that was our own fault. All in all a fantastic trip, we'll definitely go back and a big thank you to all the staff at the lodge.

The trip to the North of Iceland was, for us, wonderful. We were met in Husavik by Helgi who made us very welcome, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about where he lived and what he did and made the day very interesting. His knowledge about the Northern Lights was amazing and because of his experience we were fortunate to see the Aurora on our second night in Myvatn. The trip to the waterfalls was very well planned providing us with crampons and walking sticks to help us walk over the ice and snow. It was a beautiful sunny day with lunch being included which was an added bonus. The trip to the Myvatn baths was a really lovely experience, very relaxing and who would have thought that you would venture out in a bathing costume at - 3 degree C. The snow sledding on our third day was another success and Bergbora making us very welcome. The trip was wonderful and spending time with the dogs after the trip was another wonderful experience. We would like to say a very big thank you to Helgi who helped make our trip a big success and would not hesitate to recommend his company Geo Travel to other people. Also Bergbora and the dog sledding. One thing that may be worth mentioning is that Reykjavik has two Domestic airports and to check with the taxi driver which one you are flying from.

Dear Margaret Thank you for your lengthy review and feedback. I am delighted you had such a wonderful time and clearly made the most of every activity. It really makes it so worthwhile to hear your feedback. Paperwork has already been adjusted to stress it is the Domestic Airport not the International Airport that is required. Thankyou for flagging that. Thanks and Regards Abigail

Just completed a trip at the ice hotel and abisko and it was fantastic everything was organised we didn't have to worry about anything just had to be at the advised locations at the advised times. All the accommodation and tours were well run and thoroughly enjoyed. Was lucky enough to see the northern lights on 4 different nights. Favourite part of the trip was definately abisko the staff at the mountain lodge were amazing and food was spectacular. Will highly recommend to my friends to book through weekend a la carte

I had always wanted to try and see the Northern Lights, and when the opportunity arose for us to celebrate my 50th Birthday, Weekend a la carte Aurora Nights offered everything that I'd hoped for. If the Lights didn't show, we would still have an amazing activity holiday to remember. From the initial enquiry and booking, everyone was extremely helpful. The documentation was promptly received and easily understood, and Jan or Kevin were always on hand for any additional queries. The flights were good and although Stockholm airport is quite large and necessitated a long walk between gates, we got to our boarding gate in plenty of time for the connecting flight to Kiruna. Our transfer to Abisko Mountain Lodge was comfortable and interesting, as the driver gave us a lot of information about Sweden on the way, even slowing so we could take photos of a large Sami reindeer herd on the way. On arrival we checked in to our superior room in the separate annexe, which was worth every penny. Spacious, warm, inviting, with plenty of storage space, a seating area and a large bathroom, it matched our expectations in every way. Having been given our Arctic clothing, and a brief introduction to the Lodge, we settled in and waited for dinner. Throughout all four evenings, we were treated to some absolutely stunning three course meals, showcasing local food, the equivalent of which would probably be Michelin-starred in the UK. Reindeer, Arctic Char, Elk, all beautifully presented and with exquisite flavours, were prepared in the tiniest of kitchens by extremely talented chefs. There was only a set menu, but what a set menu! Breakfasts were self-service and full of choice - freshly baked bread, cold meats, cheese, sausage and pickled herrings (recommended on rye bread!), with fruit, yoghurt, porridge and eggs, plus tea, coffee and juice. And then the daily activities began! A magical husky sleigh ride to a tepee in the frozen wilderness, where a welcoming fire was lit, with hot drinks and cinnamon rolls baked on a griddle over the fire. On our return we helped feed the huskies before lunch in the Lodge with delicious soup and freshly baked cookies. During our free time, a walk down to the frozen lake with it's stunning views. An interesting day trip to Narvik in Norway, where, after a lunch of seafood soup, we visited the Peace Museum and learnt about the WWII battle of Narvik through a clever visual overhead display of the fjord and it's sea battles. An exhilarating 4 hour snowmobile trip to the top of the Abisko National Park, upon which we were both able to drive. Refreshments in a tiny cabin warmed us up for the trip back to the Lodge. All of the guides were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and helped make for a fantastic stay. And so you ask - what about the Northern Lights? On our second night, we took the 30 minute chairlift ride to the Abisko Sky Station, where after a brief introduction to the science behind the Aurora, we were free to wander around the mountain, or go up to the high observation tower to look for the lights. Looking in completely the wrong direction, we suddenly noticed movement over our shoulders on the horizon, and there they were! To cap it all, they saved the best until last - a last hurrah for us to see as we gently travelled back down on the chairlift. We also had a photography evening on our last evening with guides and professional cameras with tripods to help us set up and try and capture the beauty of the aurora. Although the intermittent clouds didn't appear promising, towards the end of the evening we could definitely see a green glow over the reconstructed Sami camp where we were based. And when we got home and looked at our SD Memory Cards on the PC, we were amazed at the beauty of the aurora that only the cameras could pick up. Finally, on the way back to the airport, we visited the Ice Hotel and enjoyed a daytime drink in the warm and inviting lounge, before boarding our plane back to a wet and foggy UK. We had wonderful company throughout our stay, and the total experience was a dream come true. Thank you SO much to everyone who helped make this such an holiday to treasure. Sarah and Rohan

It was a very well organised trip. The food at Abisko Mountain Lodge was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentative. The weather on the Friday curtailed the planned activities - which were re-arranged - but we still managed to get out and explore the area. The road to Narvik was blocked by snow so that trip was cancelled. We borrowed snow shoes from the hotel and had two good walks instead, in deep snow! We were extremely fortunate to see the Aurora Borealis twice, a two hour spectacular from behind the hotel and one from the Sky Station. We have no hesitation in recommending this trip to others.

Given the time of year and availability of accommodation and NY event options, we think choosing an Aurora Nights package is a great way to plan a short festive season trip to Iceland. No lights for us, but that was the only disappointment - everything else was very well organised and documented - we knew exactly what to expect. Recommended!

Exceeded all expectations and more. Unforgettable experience. The memories will stay with us forever. The whole weekend was well organised and all we had to do was turn up at the airport and you took care of everything else. You took off all the pressure and we relaxed and had an amazing holiday. All the people we met were friendly and very helpful. The guides were all very good.
