Brilliant holiday, loved every minute, comfortable Lodge and friendly staff. Food was delicious, eating dinner in the restaurant is 'fine dining' and the breakfast buffet was really good too. Activities were exciting and ticked another box for both of us, staff who led the activities were very friendly and helpful regarding answering any questions and offering to take photos of us during our activity. As a grand finale the Aurora showed itself on our last night, treating us to a spectacular Corona Aurora, this really made out holiday!! Going up to the Sky Station that evening was even better as we had a display of lights whilst on the chair lift, spectacular! We were very glad of the arctic clothing that we borrowed as it made a big difference and we were not cold at all despite the minus temperates. Flights were good and on time, nothing to complain about except it was over all too quickly!!

A first class trip with faultless and highly efficient organisation both from Weekend a la Carte and from all of the local Swedish staff at the Abisko Mountain Lodge who are all very good at their jobs. The rooms are basic but it is a Mountain Lodge 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle! The food there was fabulous and the arctic clothing was absolutely superb. All the activities were run by enthusiasts who are engaging, cheerful and very professional. We were lucky enough to see the aurora on 3 of the 4 nights which was as movingly spectacular as you could wish for and the Abisko area itself has to be seen to be believed. We have been back for a week and are still slightly stunned by the whole experience.

Everything ran like clockwork. Easy car hire, wonderful hotel in Ranga, great superjeep trip. Unfortunately no Northern lights but a truly different and exciting break.

Wow! An amazing holiday, in an amazing country with amazingly people! Kevin and his team set up the perfect break. As explained, a couple of the experiences changed days but that was to enhance the holiday (our photography evening moved to the night when the northern lights were at their best in conjunction with clear skies). The Mattarakka lodge was a special place indeed and all the staff made us feel very welcome. We will be highly recommending Weekend A La Carte packages to our friends and family.

Alas, we didn't see a Northern Lights display, but it was nonetheless a remarkable break. Our experience of a dog sled ride on the Sunday morning midst brilliant sunshine, the day after a mini-blizzard, was little short of magical, while both my partner and I managed to conquer our fear of heights as we ascended to the Abisko sky station on a chair lift that frequently stopped. Treading across a vast frozen lake with confidence on metre-thick ice was also exhilarating. Unfortunately, the severe weather on the Saturday night led to the cancellation of the wilderness photo tour (apparently for just the third time in nearly a decade). Earlier in the day the wind and snow had also caused the closure of the rail line to Narvik, so we weren't able to go on a scheduled trip. (Any possibility of a partial refund?!?). The accommodation at Abisko Mountain Lodge was on the Spartan side, but the cuisine was outstanding - worthy of a Michelin star in my humble opinion. In addition, the Lodge staff proved both friendly and incredibly helfpul. The end of the brief holiday was somewhat marred by a lengthy delay (nearly three hours) to our return flight to Heathrow from Stockholm Arlanda. I had hoped that SAS would provide a free drink or snack (other than tea/coffee) in the light of the delay, but it wasn't to be. That's a very minor complaint, though, and overall our four-day Arctic adventure was a very positive experience. Both my partner and I would be keen to return to Abisko in the not too distant future.

Dear George Many thanks for your feedback and I am delighted you had a great time despite not seeing the northern lights. This can and does happen and is why we make itineraries as impactful as possible so you come away with good memories even if the Aurora don' show up. Delighted to hear you would be happy to go back to Abisko and we would be delighted to assist but meanwhile thank you for traveling with us. Kind Regards Kevin Collins Managing Director

Overall, we'd say between "good" and "very good". It was a memorable holiday, and the trips and accommodation lived up to our high expectations The weather was good in Abisko, and the snowmobile and husky trips were "one off". The Aurora photo evening was both fantastic and useful as the photography training from Chad was great The evening Sami/Aurora trip in Narvik was enjoyable, albeit a bit quirky. It felt a little underdeveloped, and given the weather could probably have been a bit shorter. The guide was a lovely bloke Sandwiched between here and Lofoten was the "day from hell", stranded in a service station for 7 hours in the storm. A big thanks to Louise in Unique North who worked on her day off, the team at Weekend a la Carte (I guess there were a few people they had to organise "rescue" for), and mostly to Robin from the Melbu hotel who did a 5 hour round trip in vile weather to retrieve us. This included changing a flat tyre! He also did a mini detour on the way to the ferry the next day to show us a snapshot of the area The Hurtigruten 3 hour cruise was a welcome surprise, as we were just expecting a ferry, not a very comfortable 3 hour cruise through lovely landscapes The cabins at Svolvaer were brilliant, and a unique way to experience the storm on the Saturday. The rib boat ride and sea eagles on the Sunday were a perfect way to end our trip What stops a maximum rating is the level of communication and flexibility "on the ground" in the locations. I wasn't expecting to have to chase arrangements etc. Mainly this was at Svolvaer, where we felt with flexibility of the trips, we could have been booked Saturday night for the Aurora tour with Sunday as a back up, and the Island tour could have been rescheduled for us to the Sunday. Both these were cancelled (valid outcome for the times they were booked). Although the hotel was advised of the evening cancellation, they failed to let us know, and we were standing waiting not knowing what was the situation

Dear Richard Many thanks for the review and i am delighted that despite encountering a near hurricane in Norway you had a great time. Weather is one thing we cant control and this season has certainly had its fair share of unusual weather. Thank you for all the photos you sent the office this afternoon. You certainly witnessed some good northern lights and your pictures in Lofoten are stunning. I hope you feel that despite your trip being disrupted by probably the worst storm that many of our partners had witnessed in years you were well looked after by us and the ground teams. We have refunded you for the tours you could not do due to weather Warm Regards Kevin Collins Managing Director

The information provided for the trip was well put together and gave us the details we needed both to plan for our holiday for the weather conditions and for our time away. The travel arrangements went smoothly and the accommodation was good with excellent food. The trips were well organized with qualified local guides. A very memorable holiday.

Excellent holiday, well organised. Activities great. Mattarahkka Lodge lovely - felt like home with wonderful staff and food. Arctic wilderness cabins very good, Johan's cooking superb! Abisco Mountain Lodge good, excellent restaurant, however for the price of the tour we feel we should have been in a superior room and not the cheapest room, it was so small and more like a youth hostel - not very nice. That's the only negative. Other Weekend A La Carte guests felt the same.

Dear Terence Thank you for your review and i am delighted that you enjoyed the break we put together for you and despite your comments on the room in Abisko gave us a 5 star rating. We try and make it clear when we send proposals that we give a balanced view on Abisko Mountain Lodge. In short the standard rooms are 3 star level, the deluxe rooms are 4 star but the food and hospitality are 5 star! We do give clients the ability to upgrade if they wish but appreciate this adds more cost. The Arctic is not the cheapest holiday destination but it offers amazing experiences. I hope you got to see the northern lights - they have been consistently strong over the last 10 days or so. Thank you for traveling with us. Warm Regards Kevin Collins Managing Director

The trip we took to the Tree Hotel and Ice Hotel in Sweden was superbly organised and we had a fantastic time. Sadly the Northern Lights were not putting on their best display, but that did not spoil what was a fabulous holiday.

WOW I booked this as a surprise for my husbands birthday and I couldn't be more pleased with the whole package, everything from the very first point of contact to the actual holiday was perfectly organised and went according to plan. Every place we stayed at was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed every experience I had booked, The ski mobiles, Reindeer visit at the Sami village and the Husky tour were amazing in Kiruna as was the photography night in Abisko the whole experience was magical even in -32 degrees I couldn't recommend Weekend A La Carte enough they really are experts at creating the best experience especially for The Northern Lights.

We had a very nice time and enjoyed all of our excursions especially the dog sledging with Annika and Oulf(?). Also a very good evening with Ida learning more about Sami culture. Food was good for first 2 days but with change of staff less good and rather minimal.

We returned on Friday from what I can honestly say was the most fantastic trip. Everything ran like clockwork, the activities and guides throughout were excellent, the food was great and the northern lights put on a fabulous display on our final night. We didn’t get to go up to the sky station, or do the train journey, it was just too cold and was not safe to run these, but this didn’t affect our trip as other activities were provided, In actual fact we went into the Abisko National Park for the day which was simply stunning. I’d like to thank all at Weekend a la carte for putting this together for us, and to name a couple of people from the trip Anneka, who spent the day with us with the husky’s, and Chad our photo evening guide from (lights over Lapland), were both great. Highly recommended.

Fantastic trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Had three different tours arranged and all three were absolutely spectacular. My family and I enjoyed every aspect of the holiday and my mum got the see the lights on top of one of the glaciers! Arrangements were flawless and we did not experience a single problem. I can highly recommend this company.

What a brilliant trip, all the activities were well organised with enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. We firstly stayed at the Tree Hotel, the UFO and then the Birds Nest for a bit of fun. Then we traveled north to Abisko, the Mountain Lodge. Both hotels were friendly, wecolming and served really good food. The icing on the cake was being lucky enough to see an active aurora on our photography trip. Weekend a la carte provided a responsive and personal service, would definitely recommend them.
