“Although charged for pigeon, it wasn't sent and, on querying this, we were finally told it was out of stock. We have received a refund now. There were also items that were obviously not frozen. We didn't know whether they should have been and had defrosted. On enquiring, we were told that they had been sent unfrozen but could be put in our freezer if we wished.”

We’re disappointed to receive a negative review in one of the busiest years experienced by any online retailers in history. As a result of the Pandemic we did experience shortages of certain products ... and yes, we were turning around orders at such speed that we sent out fresh products - we simply didn’t have time to freeze everything. To be penalised for trying very hard to do the right thing seems a little harsh .. but sorry you feel this way Elaine.

“I discovered Alternative Meats last year when searching for a source for veal to make our traditional Christmas meal of Wiener Schnitzel. The service was exceptional and personal and the veal was delicious! I ordered from them again this year...which says it all! Thank you! Merry (Covid) Christmas! Stay safe.”

Hello Po, Thanks for your kind review. We do find it impossible at busy times to predict what will be available fresh or frozen, as we are drawing constantly on both types of stock. For instance, most items can be arranged on a chilled delivery if preferred but this takes a lot of organisation and most customers are not prepared to wait or a week or two whilst all the different types of products arrive in fresh to us. To get around this problem we have put a note at the checkout warning customers that their order may be frozen, chilled or a mix of both unless they state otherwise. The frozen product can be transferred straight to your freezer, the chilled product can be frozen if you choose.
