“This was our first order from Alternative Meats. We tried the Waygu beef and the Mangalista pork. The beef was excellent, tender, suculent. The pork had an excellent flavour, but to our untrained tongues, it tasted a bit like a cross between venison and beef, even though it clearly looked like pork. I think we are going to have to try a larger joint of the pork, larger than the pork chop and pork steak that we had. Usually a larger joint is what we find most flavourable.”

“Having found this company on line I decided to purchase items and pay fir the delivery, which some companies do not charge. I received the meat on the day given well packed. On opening I found that all the items were frozen. This was not made clear on the website. I purchase fish from both Cornwall & Scotland where the postage is free, but the fish is fresh. I know that some is put into the freezer, so would have preferred the meat to be fresh and divide items by weight which I couldn’t do with this order.”

Well Anthony it's always very sad for us when a customer expresses any form of disappointment with our products or our service. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to keep our very extensive range of products fresh on the shelf and available for dispatch at a moment's notice. This is why we prepare lots of our products fresh and then freeze them down immediately - it means that we can turn around the orders quickly and efficiently and as you can see from other reviews, most of our customers are very happy with this arrangement. If, for any reason, you wish to receive something fresh then you can make a request at the checkout. In fact this whole process is well documented in the section on the website called "Delivery" and there are two links to this section on the Home Page. We would also add that an overnight courier service and the specialist packaging that we use are not inexpensive and we prefer to simply and transparently pass these charges on to our customers rather than hiding them by inflating the cost of our products. You seem to be quite happy with your delivery service and packaging, and we do hope you have also enjoyed the products you purchased.

“Top quality meat. I tried three lots of pork and it was all superb. I collected from the shop, having ordered on line first of all. Very easy to do. Currently they are very COVID aware. 10/10”

This is of the utmost importance to us, and never more so that now, with the new restrictions coming into force this week. If you do wish to collect your goods, you can order and pay online and when you collect this is then a completely contactless service.

“I ordered a wagyu beef brisket to make pastrami along with some other things. Alternative Meats were very helpful, the meat is high quality and it arrived when it said it would, so I had plenty of time to brine the brisket before our holiday.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed all of the products ordered. The mangaliza bacon was absolutely amazing - the best we have ever eaten. Some of he mangaliza fat was used to make some Polish sausage and the rest rendered down perfectly to make a pure white lard. All delicious - many thanks. I can truly recommend your meat without reservation.”

“I have had suckling pig, portchetta, mangalitza pork and wagyu beef joint from Alternative Meats and also mangalitza sausages. Packages have always arrived on time, still frozen (where appropriate) and intact. It might be nice if the company Could look at more environmentally friendly packaging but the quality of the meat is always excellent. Plus if you email or call they’re always very attentive. For a special meal this should be one of your go to suppliers.”
